Before the auction, Holmes owned the ticket. Doubler in everything Harry Potter films, he suffered a serious injury during filming in 2010 Deathly Hallows: Part 1, and now he is paralyzed, he uses a wheelchair to get around. Proceeds from ticket sales will go towards his mobility equipment and personal care.
The stunt was the subject of the HBO documentary 2023 David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived, produced by Radcliffe, who is also a childhood friend.
“I’ve wanted to do something about Dave for years because he’s amazing and I wanted to share that with the world,” Radcliffe told PEOPLE at the time.
