Heartbreaking moment dad sobs with relief after daughter, 8, was killed by Hamas – rather than being held hostage

A GRIEVING father has welcomed the news that his daughter was killed by Hamas monsters – because being held hostage is “worse than death”.

Thomas Hand revealed he waited two agonizing days to discover his eight-year-old daughter Emily had been killed by terrorists after they stormed their kibbutz on Saturday.

In a heartbreaking interview, a devastated Irish father broke down in tears as he recalled the moment he learned his daughter’s body had been found.

He said CNN: “They said, we found Emily, she’s dead.

“And I said ‘yes!’ I agreed and smiled, because it was the best news of all the possibilities I knew.

“That was the best news of all the possibilities I knew… the best possibility I could have hoped for.”

Emily was staying with a friend in a nearby house in Kibbutz Be’eri when Palestinian militants attacked and slaughtered at least 100 Israelis.

Hand said the entire city was gripped by heavy gunfire all Saturday and he had no idea where his child was.

It took the Israeli Defense Forces more than eight hours of door-to-door fighting with the terrorists to liberate the city late Sunday.

It was one of the last kibbutzim to be liberated from Hamas and was only declared safe for outside entry on Tuesday.

Describing the harrowing two-day wait for her to be rescued, Hand said the news of Emily’s death came as a “blessing”.

“She was either dead or in Gaza, and if you know anything about what they do to people in Gaza, it’s worse than death.”

“The way they treat you, they wouldn’t have food, they wouldn’t have water, she was in a dark room full of Christ knows how many people.

“And terrified of every minute, hour, day and possible years to come. So death was a blessing.

“An absolute blessing,” he added.

It comes after Israeli soldiers uncovered scenes of unspeakable horror in Kfar Az – a kibbutz near the Gaza border that was ravaged by Hamas militants.

Israeli forces retook control of the besieged city on Tuesday and were forced to retrieve the bodies of at least 40 babies and children – some of whom were found decapitated, Israel said.

Hamas militants armed with guns, grenades and knives killed entire families in their beds early Saturday morning after storming across the border.

As Israel reels from news of the horror, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declared that “Hamas is worse than ISIS.”

He raged: “Every member of Hamas is a dead man.”

As the bloody conflict enters its sixth day, Israel is preparing its border forces for a full-scale invasion of Gaza and has formed an emergency wartime government.

More than 2,400 people have been killed since Palestinian militants launched a surprise three-pronged attack by land, air and sea early Saturday morning.

It was the deadliest attack in Israel’s 75-year history as gunmen rampaged through cities and even a music festival, killing more than a thousand and taking at least 150 hostages in Gaza.

The hostages are reportedly being kept as human shields in tunnels, residential buildings and military bases to deter Israeli attacks.

One of the survivors of the massacre at the music festival told Sky News that she had seen footage of her dead friend online with Hamas terrorists “sitting on top of her and raping her”.

Last night UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly was forced to run for cover as Hamas fighters fired rockets into southern Israel today.

He had to dash for safety when air sirens went off in Ofakim during his “solidarity” visit to the war-torn country.

Responding to the terrifying incident, Cleverly said: “Today I saw a fraction of what millions experience every day. The threat of Hamas rockets hangs over every Israeli man, woman and child.

“This is why we stand shoulder to shoulder with Israel,” he wrote on Twitter/X.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army has prepared 360,000 reservists and warned that hundreds of soldiers have gathered near the border with Gaza and are “ready to carry out the mission we have been given”.

Tens of thousands of soldiers, volunteers, missile launchers, dozens of tanks and ammunition have since gathered at the Gaza border, and could attack as early as next week.

The nation at war also continues to attack neighborhood after neighborhood in Gaza City using dozens of warplanes, with 1,200 Palestinians reportedly killed.

So far, four British citizens have been confirmed dead, while another 13 – including children – are missing.

At least 22 Americans were also killed, the US State Department confirmed.

The US has sent two warships armed with fighter jets and missiles to Israel to help it fight Hamas.
