Heather Locklear Recalls Tom Cruise Doing His Risky Business Dance Moves on Their Date

Heather Locklear recalls her one and only date with Tom Cruise.

During a panel at 90s Con Florida on Saturday, September 14, The Melrose Place alum talked about meeting Cruise, 62, at an audition early in their careers.

“We were both auditioning for a movie together — the two of us — and I was like, ‘Oh my God, I’m terrible,'” before joking, “He’s even worse!”

“So he was like a little boy at the time that I feel like I’m a little bit older, and he ended up coming over to my house with Sean Penn,” she continued. “They were just being nice, but he was very, ‘yes, ma’am’ to me, and I’m like, ‘okay, sir.'”

A self-described “rock and roll girl” at the time, the actress said her style didn’t match Cruise’s.

“It didn’t quite work out,” Locklear said with a laugh before explaining that they ended up going on a date. She recalled: “We went out dancing at Club Lingerie at the time and, and I’ve said it before, I mean, he was really cute.”

She then described his dance moves, revealing that she was one of the first to see what ended up being his famous scene from Risky business while sliding on his knees.

Locklear has come a long way since then. In 1992, she got a role in Melrose Place, which later became a cult series spanning seven seasons.

In April, it was announced for the first time that a Melrose Place the reboot was in the works more than 30 years after the original. They later confirmed it at 90s Con.

“The pressure cooker of the reunion soon unearths old traumas, rekindles old romances, rekindles old grudges and reveals new secrets…throwing our characters into a chaotic drama reminiscent of the past, but with a much more modern perspective,” read the series synopsis.
