Henry Cavill Hunts Nazis in Action-Packed Trailer for Guy Ritchie Film Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare

Henry Cavill is in his Inglourious Basterds era with his new Guy Ritchie action comedy Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.

In the first trailer, which debuted on Tuesday, the former Superman actor, 40, leads “a secret fighting unit, made up of a motley crew of rogues and mavericks,” according to the synopsis, who “go on a daring mission against the Nazis using a totally unconventional and utterly ‘ungentlemanly’ fighting techniques.”

According to the press release, Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare based on a true event from the recently declassified British War Office. It is adapted from the book The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare: How Churchill’s Secret Warriors Set Europe on Fire and Birthed Modern Black Ops by Damien Lewis.

The operation was “the first ever special forces organization established during World War II by British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and a small group of military officials, including [James Bond] by Ian Fleming.”

“Ultimately, their bold approach changed the course of the war and laid the foundation for Britain’s SAS and modern Black Ops warfare,” the synopsis reads.

Ritchie, known for Vow, Sherlock Holmes and Gentlemendirection Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, which has in the cast: Emergency actress Eiza González, Reacher star Alan Ritchson, magical mike actor Alex Pettyfer, After actor Hero Fiennes Tiffin, Henry Golding, Cary Elwes, Babs Olusamokun, Henrique Zaga and Til Schweiger.

Cavill, who is next starring in a spy film Argyllhe wrote on Instagram in April about the completion of work on Ungentlemanly warfare.

“It’s rare to come across a team so driven, dedicated and committed to storytelling,” he wrote at the time. “That drive and commitment is only intensified by having a leader like Guy Ritchie. His ability to weave a story and create character is perhaps second to none, and he manages it like magic.”

Cavill called Costa Ritchson, 41, “a man mountain with a heart of gold,” who has “wisdom and talent that can knock you off your feet.” Of Pettyfer, 33, Cavill said he was “a lover, a laugher, the warmth of a big smile and a jaw line that would raise Turkish mountains.”

Golding, 36, has “extraordinarily quick reaction time” and is “incredibly handsome and always a man I’m happy to see,” he added.

“And last (but not least) from my immediate team of misfits, Hero Fiennes Tiffin – a megastar in the making. I know many of you already know him, but my oh my, he’s going to have a glorious career,” added Cavill about the 26-year-old actor.

Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare in theaters from April 19.
