Holly Willoughby loses another presenting job after big budget show is axed

HOLLY Willoughby has been dealt a chilling blow as the BBC has confirmed it has axed her show Freeze the Fear with Wim Hof.

The competition, which sees celebrities face challenges in sub-zero temperatures, was seen as paving the way for more Beeb programs to be hosted, but only lasted one series.

Holly, 42, quit the This Morning show in October following a murder and kidnapping plot against her and only signed up to co-host ITV’s Dancing On Ice five days ago.

A TV insider said: “This bad news caps off an extremely difficult year for Holly, which has seen her drastically rethink her life and career.

“Axing Freeze the Fear reduces her options and leaves a question mark over where she goes next after leaving her biggest gig as co-host of This Morning.

“It’s also disappointing for her husband Dan, who runs the production company Hungry Bear that made the series.

“But they will be comforted by the fact that this month they will be bringing Big Show and Michael McIntyre’s Gladiators to BBC One.”

Holly quit This Morning five months after the resignation of co-host Phillip Schofield, 61, when it emerged he had been having an affair with a much younger runner.

Then, less than a month before broadcast, she confirmed her return to Dancing on Ice – with Stephen Mulhern, 46, in the host role previously held by Schofield.

Speculation about the future of Freeze the Fear — featuring extreme athlete Hof and co-host Lee Mack — has been abuzz since it aired in 2022 to middling ratings.

A BBC spokesman said: “There are no immediate plans for another series of Freeze the Fear on the BBC.”
