Zachery Ty Bryan is in trouble with the law again.
The 43-year-old, who is best known for acting on Home improvement along with Tim Allen and Patricia Richardson, were arrested by Myrtle Beach, South Carolina police on Wednesday, Jan. 1 just before 7 p.m. local time on charges of second-degree domestic violence, PEOPLE confirms.
In the police report, obtained by PEOPLE on Jan. 6, the arresting officer said the woman involved in the incident “stated that she was assaulted” by Bryan, and that the two “live together and have children together.”
The woman told the officer that Bryan “choked her and punched her in the face multiple times,” and that “others” who were “in the house during the incident” were involved.
The officer said the woman had “obvious injuries” to her face including bruising and swelling, and determined that Bryan was the “primary aggressor.”
Bryan told the officer that he and the woman “had an argument about her drinking” and when he “tried to take the bottle from her,” she “refused” and was “flailing back and forth.”
The actor was booked into the Horry County Jail on January 2nd on $10,000 bail and released the next day.

This is the third time Bryan has been arrested on domestic violence charges. He’s also been arrested twice on DUI charges in the past year, with the most recent arrest occurring in October in Oklahoma.
His troubles with the law began in 2020, when he was arrested for allegedly strangling his girlfriend at a home in Oregon. He pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges of domestic violence and was sentenced to 36 months of probation.

Bryan got engaged to the woman he allegedly strangled, Johnny Faye Cartwright, with whom he shares three children, daughter Kennedy and twins Parker and Sequoia, in November 2021.
In 2023, he was arrested again and charged with felony fourth-degree assault, as well as third-degree robbery and misdemeanor harassment. He pleaded guilty to “a fourth-degree felony amounting to domestic violence,” the Lane County Chief Deputy District Attorney told PEOPLE at the time, and was sentenced to seven days in jail.

After his arrest, his fiancee Cartwright said she would “always want what’s best for the father of my children.”
“Trauma can bring struggles in many shapes and forms. It’s a horrible situation that’s going to spin in many ways. I learned firsthand that the truth will never match what is presented,” she continued in a statement to Us Weekly. “I ask everyone to respect our privacy for the sake of the children and our families so that the healing process can begin.”

Amidst Bryan’s legal troubles in 2023, his former co-star and TV dad Tim Allen said The Hollywood Reporter he didn’t “know what was going on” with him.
“At a certain point he went from being the guy I know to someone who reacts to situations that I have nothing to do with and can’t control,” said Allen, now 71. “I don’t know what happens when people screw up. You just don’t.”
“Zach is a great kid who has grown into a complex man. All you can do is stand aside and let someone go through their process.”
