Tommy filmed his final scenes last year and Owain has already started filming.

A TV source said: “Bosses wanted a makeover to appeal to younger viewers.

“They’ve been wanting to bring Owain to one of their popular shows for a while — he’ll add a new dynamic.

“The upcoming series will feature both Tommy and Owain as there has been a three-month delay with the house remodel, so there is some crossover.”

Former builder Tommy joined the property renovation auction show in 2021 alongside original host Martin Roberts, 60, plus Martel Maxwell, 46, and ex-footballer Dion Dublin, 54.

A year later, he revealed his secret diagnosis of throat cancer – after two benign lumps were removed from his chest 20 years ago.

He said: “I had to go into surgery straight away to have it removed. Now I have fully recovered and am even playing football again!”

Owain has presented the weather on regional BBC shows for many years and made his BBC Breakfast debut in 2021, after reporting for The One Show.

He now hosts Radio 2’s Early Breakfast Show and last year raised more than £3 million for Children In Need with his 24-hour drumming.
