He made the announcement on stage at The Swallows Head & Neck Cancer charity conference on November 27 last year.
A video of his presentation on YouTube shows the former ground force favorite revealing he had an emergency appointment at the hospital after suffering chest symptoms.
He said back in November: “I have an urgent meeting tomorrow morning at 9am in London.
“I had a chest infection, I had to go to the doctor and they sent me to the hospital for a CT scan and they think there is a three centimeter tumor on my lung.
“I tried to stay cheerful and you cheered me up today, and thank you for letting me remember and talk.
“I was weighing whether or not to tell you about this, but I felt it would be unfair to leave this and not tell you.
“So I’ll have to leave after this talk and won’t be able to join you for a few beers tonight.
“But I’m hoping and I’d really appreciate it if you’d have a few on my behalf and I’ll keep my fingers crossed, and if you don’t mind, keep your fingers crossed for me.”
The star has yet to share the results of his appointment.
Tommy was replaced by TV forecaster Owain Wyn Evans on Homes Under The Hammer.
Ex-builder Tommy only joined the property auction series in 2021 alongside original host Martin Roberts, 60, plus Martel Maxwell, 46, and ex-footballer Dion Dublin, 54.
A year later, he revealed his secret diagnosis of throat cancer – after two benign lumps were removed from his chest 20 years ago.
He told the Swallows conference: “I had to go into surgery straight away to remove it. I am now fully recovered and even playing football again!”
He was first diagnosed with cancer more than twenty years ago, after two lumps were found on his chest.
He was quickly tracked down to see a consultant at The Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, the same hospital where his sister had a lumpectomy to remove cancerous breast tissue.
He added on stage: “I just buried myself in my work and then went into day surgery where the lumps were removed under general anaesthetic.
“Only then did it somehow dawn on me that this could be serious and that I could have breast cancer, like my relatives.”
Tommy also revealed that he has a lot of future projects “agreed” with the BBC and said that he has been filming Clean it, Fix It! and Homes Under The Hammer weeks earlier.
He added: “So if I was thinking about retirement, I can think again.”
Owain has presented the weather on regional BBC shows for many years and made his BBC Breakfast debut in 2021, after reporting for The One Show.
He now hosts Radio 2’s Early Breakfast Show and last year raised more than £3 million for Children In Need with his 24-hour drumming.
A source told The Sun: “Bosses wanted a makeover to appeal to younger viewers.
“They’ve been wanting to bring Owain to one of their popular shows for a while – he’ll add a new dynamic.
“The upcoming series will feature both Tommy and Owain as there has been a three-month delay with the house remodel, so there is some crossover.”
