Horror as man’s body is pulled from river with urgent probe launched into mysterious death

A MAN’S body has been pulled from a river as police launch an urgent investigation into a mysterious death.

Police were called to the River Wensum, near Novi Sad’s Friendship Bridge, in Norwich at 4.26am on Saturday.

Emergency services, including firefighters and EMS, attended and pulled a man in his 40s from the water.

He was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, but died a short time later.

Police said his death is being treated as unexplained and his next of kin have been notified.

Police officers want to determine how the man got into the water.

They invited everyone who was nearby at that moment to come forward.

He is described as an “Asian male”, with a slim build and around 5ft 9in (175cm) tall.

He was said to be wearing a black North Face puffer jacket and black pants.

The man also had a distinctive wide-brimmed hat and a large black bag.

Norfolk Police said: “Anyone who may have been in the Riverside area of ​​Norwich in the early hours of yesterday morning and who may have seen anything, or who has relevant dashcam or mobile phone footage, is asked to contact Norfolk Police via any of the following channels : citing CAD 53 of January 11.”
