How Christopher Rich's Reba Costars 'Engineered' His 'Perfect' TV Comeback 8 Years After Surviving a Stroke (Exclusive)

Christopher Rich reunits with his Rab Kostari on Happy place – But his return to TV was left by a veteran actor, feeling vulnerable.

February 21st Episode NBC Happy placeRich, 71, appears as Maverick, a tattoo artist and a stroke survivor who likes to tease new clients about which hand will use them when giving ink – a left hand, which he damaged cattle, or right.

The character was written especially for Rich, and the acting returns to television eight years after hitting the left side of his body.

“The thing is that I worked with all these people: producers, writers and many of the crew, and of course, rib [McEntire] and Melissa [Peterman] on Rab“Rich exclusively tells people how Happy place Cameo came.

He adds: “My whole group is my old friends and everyone wanted to help me return my career, so they made this part they thought was perfect.”

However, Rich had to face his own fear that he might not be able to perform at the same level he did before the stroke – the fear that he eventually realized that they were unfounded.

Actor, who played former McENTIRE husband and Peterman’s husband Brock Hart on hit comedy Rab For six seasons, he has revealed that he was “pretty nervous” to step back in front of the live audience after so many years away from the spotlight.

“I didn’t know if I still had a set of skills before I got sick,” he says. “But I did [the Reba cast] Laugh with private functions … And they said, “Listen, you won’t have problems,” and they were right. ”

He continued to add that “listening to this feedback and laughter and applause from the audience” was “magnificent” again.

Playing the surviving stroke made experience only more special for Rich, who went through extensive rehabilitation after his 2018 stroke. She explains to the people that “the coldest thing for me was to portray a disability person who does something that would do any other person.”

Doing it with Mcentire, 69, and Peterman, 53, beside him, was “pure joy,” says the actor, noting that he “so grateful” that he was given the opportunity to reunite with his longtime Kostari at McTyre’s new sitcom.

“I fall in love with her every time we make a scene,” says Rich about Peterman, with whom she shares a special (and funny moment in the upcoming episode).

And as for McENTIr? “It’s like working with family,” he says. “I mean, I don’t know how to explain it better than that, but it’s really like I’m going to work with my sister.”
