The role of Zac Affleck in the reality series The Secret Lives of Mormon Women isn’t his only Hollywood connection — he’s also actor Ben Affleck’s first cousin once removed.
The medical student from Utah married his wife, influencer Jennifer Affleck, in 2019, and the couple has two children. Now their family life will be featured in their reality show, which follows eight Mormon moms who rose to fame on TikTok after being embroiled in a sex scandal.
It’s unclear if Zac and Jennifer have been taking part in the infamous “soft rocking” lifestyle with their co-stars, but the show’s first official trailer hinted that all is not well in the Affleck household.
“The band is important to me,” Jennifer tells Zac at one point during the clip. Later in the teaser, he can be heard saying, “Being divorced and taking care of two kids would be hard, so you make the decision.”

Zac is Ben’s first cousin once removed. His father, Dave Affleck, is the first cousin of Ben and Casey Affleck.
Jennifer was the first to mention Zac’s family ties to Gone Girl star on TikTok in September 2022 — shortly after Ben and Jennifer Lopez tied the knot in Vegas and she took the actor’s last name.
“When did you think you were going to be the next JLO. But instead… she stole your name and you throw it at Ms. Rachel,” the TikToker wrote alongside a video of her dancing to “Wheels on the Bus”.
While speaking with PEOPLE in September 2024, Jennifer revealed that she and Zac had “never met” the actor. “Zac’s dad has [met them]when [Ben] it was very little,” she added. “And I hope to meet him one day!”

Zac was born in Utah and raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) by his parents, Dave and Kristel Leishman Affleck. After graduating from Olympus High School in May 2015, he participated in the missionary program of the church in the Dominican Republic.
Zac eventually graduated from Brigham Young University in July 2024 and was accepted into medical school.

The Utah-born reality star married Jennifer, who calls the Bay Area home, on June 28, 2019, in Newport Beach, California. The ceremony was held in a local LDS temple, while the reception took place on a large yacht.
“I knew Zac was the one when I realized I couldn’t imagine life without him and his amazing qualities,” Jennifer wrote on Instagram ahead of their wedding. “I am grateful to have someone who loves me unconditionally, puts me first and makes me want to be a better fiancé, friend, daughter and person. I can’t forget that she makes me the happiest girl in the world.”
The couple began dating in 2018 after meeting on a Mormon dating app called Mutual. Zac later proposed at Top of the Rock in New York in January 2019.

Zac and Jennifer have two children: daughter Nora, born in November 2021, and son Lucas Lowell, who arrived in July 2023.
“We were so young when we first became parents, we had a lot to learn, but Zac was always there every step of the way. He never wavered from giving Nora and Luca everything they needed,” the mom of two wrote on Instagram in honor of Father’s Day 2024.

Hulu’s reality series The Secret Lives of Mormon Women follows a group of influencer Mormon moms who are “caught in the middle of a sex scandal.”
Jennifer stars in the series alongside seven other women, including Taylor Frankie Paul, who made headlines in 2022 when she announced her divorce and opened up about her and her husband’s “slight swing” lifestyle.
Zac, along with several other husbands, participated in the filming of the series – and fans can expect a lot of drama between the partners.
“It feels like we have 10 years of marriage counseling in this one season of filming,” Jennifer told PEOPLE.
