How Paulina Porizkova Learned to Embrace Her Wrinkles After Being ‘Terrified’ of Them: ‘It's Your Map of Life’

Paulina Porizkov continues to openly discuss the aging.

Swedish supermodel, 59, appeared on Friday, January 31 episodes Today Show and open up to their perception of aging. She told Savannah Guthrie anchorage that she couldn’t wait for her 60th birthday on April 9th, saying, “I’ve never been a delighted birthday in my life.”

She explained, “I paid a fee. I raised my children, I had a family, I was a wife, I did everything that society expected from me and you know what? That’s my turn.”

Guthrie, 53, followed, saying that Porizkov had a new view of aging compared to last year.

“I feel like we’re afraid of wrinkles so much,” Porizkov replied. “Did you notice that? We are so terrified of wrinkles, because I suppose wrinkles make us no longer relevant, more sexy, no longer desirable, and as a woman, it was a type of our business card – it’s so long marked.”

She noted that acne and fighting are two more often concerns that people go to a dermatologist for. “Acne is a disease, and wrinkles are signs of privilege that you are alive,” she said.

Guthrie added, “They are a badge of honor!” And Porizkov replied, “Why to eliminate them? Why not accept them? And I understand why – because society tells us that we don’t want us once we become folds.”

Porizkov, who was a spokesman for Estée Lauder from 1988-1995.
