What are unsent messages on Messenger?

Unsend Message means deleting a message you have already sent. Sometimes there is a mistake while sending messages or you send something to your friend/any person and regret it after sending.

For such cases, all social media apps offer some kind of feature to delete a message.

This feature of removing a sent message in Messenger is called Unsend. For example, you delete a message on WhatsApp, similarly, you unsend a message on Messenger.

Can you see an unsent message on Messenger?

Although you get a notification when someone unsends a message they’ve sent, there’s no direct way to see the contents of unsent messages.

When someone unsends a message they sent, you’ll get a notification. However, when you or the other person unsend the message, you or the other person will not be able to see it.

Steps to view unsent messages on Messenger

It is not possible to see unsent messages on messenger Android. Once it’s deleted, it’s gone forever, you can’t get it back from Messenger. But some third-party apps can help you retrieve old messages and unsent messages on Messenger, just like you can recover permanently deleted messages on Facebook.

These apps work by saving your notifications. When you receive a message, you will get a notification and these apps save these notifications before it is deleted or sent.

  • Download and install the Notisave app from the Google Play Store.
  • Launch the app and you will be asked to allow notifications access to the app. Allow.
  • Search and “enable notification” access to the notisave app.
  • Provide access to photos, files and media on your device.
  • All apps would be loaded into your notisave app.
  • Enable “Autostart”.
  • Now all notifications on your device will be saved and you can access them even if others unsend or delete them.

Now let’s see how you can view unsent messages through the Messenger app.

Through the Messenger app

You need to download the “Notisave” app on Google Play to view unsent messages on Messenger. It is a notification and status saver app that automatically saves messages on Messenger from the notification bar by automatically saving notifications. With the help of the application, you can search at once from all applications.

Messenger and other messaging apps support Notisave to automatically save new messages, images and statuses. To use Notisave, follow these steps:

  • Open Google Play and download Notisave.
  • Now enable access to notifications by turning on “Notisave”.
  • After that, allow Notisave to access your media and files.
  • Go to “Settings”.
  • Click on “Save notifications”.
  • Turn on “Messenger”.

Once the Messenger app is turned on, notifications about messages from Messenger will start automatically saving to Notisave. And so, if someone now unsends a message in the Messenger app, you can open the Notisave app and see the unsent message from the user.

This can also be tested on another phone by sending a message to yourself and canceling the send. However, you must enable Messenger notifications for this to work, otherwise your Messenger notifications will not be saved to Notisave.

Note: Notisave is only available on Google Play for Android devices and not on the App Store for iPhone and other iOS devices.

No Messenger app

If you want to see unsent messages on Messenger without the app, you need to turn on “Notification history” in the settings. This will save messages that you receive on Messenger before they are unsent. However, you must keep in mind that this method is only for some android users, as the devices differ in functionality and options from one to another. So here’s how you can turn on “Notification History”:

Solution Synopsis: Settings < Notifications < Advanced Settings < Notification History < Turn on Notification History.

Once you’ve taken these steps, you’ll be able to see all your unsent messages on Messenger by opening your Messenger notification history. If you have already turned on “Notification History”, select Messenger and then you will be able to see the notification history. It will include your unsent and recent messages on Messenger.

However, just turning on “Notification History” won’t help you see previous unsent messages on Messenger. And in the future, you will only be able to see unsent messages. The reason for this is that previous unsent messages on Messenger are not saved as a notification.

As with Android devices, this step also works only for Android but not for iOS devices as they don’t have the “Notification History” feature.

Since not all Android devices have the “Notification History” feature, in case you don’t have it either, you can download the “Notisave” app instead.

Note: Another option for you is to use a tracking service like mSpy and keep the data on the platform. All you have to do is activate it and mSpy will start storing your conversations in its database and will be easily accessible to you.
