How to Watch Every Episode of Friends on Streaming

Friends it may have ended nearly 20 years ago, but its legacy lives on.

Following the news of Matthew Perry’s death on October 28, 2023, the show, in which Perry played the quick-witted, sarcastic Chandler Bing, received an outpouring of love as fans flocked to his character’s New York apartment and paid tribute to the late actor on social media.

Although viewers of the sitcom – which premiered in 1994 and ended in 2004 – have rewatched episodes since the series ended, Perry has refrained from doing so, explaining that he doesn’t like seeing himself on screen.

“I didn’t watch the series and I didn’t watch it because I could drink… opiates… drink… cocaine. “Like I could tell season after season by how I looked,” Perry, who has struggled with substance abuse, said in an interview with Q with Tom Power in November 2022.

However, he added that he is open to watching it again as more time has passed, given the “amazing” experience he had filming with actors Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc and Lisa Kudrow.

Friends Roles: Where are they now?

After Friends wrapped, the series found a spinoff in the Joey, which followed the life of LeBlanc’s Joey Tribbiani who moved to Los Angeles to pursue his acting career. Joey ran for two seasons before ending in 2006. The cast reunited in 2021 for a reunion special on Max.

Friends is available to stream on Max, formerly known as HBO Max. After Perry’s death, the streaming platform added a tribute at the beginning of the first episode of each season.

The title card now reads “In Memory of Matthew Perry” with the actor’s headshot and his year of birth and death: 1969-2023.

Max subscriptions range from $9.99 to $19.99 per month or are available with an HBO subscription. They are also available through some TV, Internet and wireless service providers.

Friends previously lived on Netflix before Max acquired the rights to the series. If fans want to own episodes rather than stream them, all seasons are available for purchase on Amazon’s Prime Video, Apple’s iTunes, and Google Play.

Various cable channels often air daytime episodes of the beloved show, but on October 30, 2023, TBS announced that it will air episodes of “The Best of Chandler” from November 1-5, at Diversity.

The marathon will begin with episodes focusing on Chandler and Joey’s friendship, then transition to Chandler and Monica’s relationship, with encores continuing later in the week.

How can I watch Friends reunion?

The cast of Friends reunited on screen in May 2021 for a special reunion episode, which aired on HBO and streamed on Max. The nearly two-hour special followed the six stars as they returned to the original soundstage and recalled their fondest memories from filming the show.

The special episode can also be streamed on Max.

How can I watch Friends spinoff Joey?

After Friends concluded in 2004, the series left all the friends married and settled into their lives, with the exception of Joey, who was still an actor and a struggling bachelor. Spinoff, aptly titled Joeyfeatured LeBlanc traveling to find out what happened next to his beloved character.

The series only ran for two seasons and is not available to stream or air on cable television. However, those interested in learning more about Joey can purchase episodes of the series on Amazon Prime Video or the DVD box set on Amazon.
