The 35-year-old claims she was sent an item that had an “old” bloodstain in the crotch – but claims the seller denied it was there when she posted it.

Alex took to TikTok to warn others about the risk of getting dirty clothes when buying used clothes.

“I love Vinted, I don’t fail often,” she said.

“I ordered a dress because I have an event coming up, brand new with tags.

“It has marks, but something about this crotch tells me it’s not brand new.”

Alex lifted the garment to reveal an obvious bloodstain on the crotch of the bottom layer of the dress, which commentators called “vile” and “absolutely wrong”.

“What goes through people’s heads?” she continued.

“That goes in the bin.

“How do you list that, man?

“I’m traumatized.”

Alex, from London, added in the caption of her video that the stain was “a step too far”.

“I’m a big believer in buying pre-loved fashion, especially for events I’ll only wear once,” she wrote.

“But the ‘I only wore this once for a photo’ descriptions have to stop.

“There’s no way that wasn’t noticed when you packed it.

“It’s my first real Vinted fail.

“I don’t mind that my things are delivered in caricatures.

“Stained though? That’s a step too far for me.”

In the comments, she stated that the seller even claims that the stain was not on the dress when she packed it.

The seller reportedly agreed to accept the return despite denying the stain and even suggesting that Alex was responsible for it.

How to avoid receiving dirty items when buying used

  1. Communication: Communicate with the seller before purchasing. Ask for additional photos of the item, especially close-up shots to thoroughly inspect its condition.
  2. Read the descriptions carefully: pay attention to the description of the item provided by the seller. Look for stains, dirt or other imperfections.
  3. Check Seller Reviews: See seller ratings and reviews from previous customers. Sellers with good ratings and positive feedback are more likely to provide accurate descriptions and quality items.
  4. Ask questions: Don’t hesitate to ask the seller about the condition of the item, such as whether it has been cleaned recently or if there are any particular areas of concern.
  5. Ask for a cleanliness guarantee: Politely ask the seller if they can guarantee that the item will be cleaned before shipping. Most sellers on platforms like Vinted are willing to accommodate reasonable customer requests.
  6. Review the return policy: Familiarize yourself with the return policy of the chosen platform. If the item arrives in a significantly different condition than described, you may be entitled to a return or refund.
  7. Use secure payment methods: Use secure payment methods to protect your transaction. That way, if the item doesn’t meet your expectations, you can dispute the transaction if needed.
