I Use 15 of These Strong Wall Hooks to Solve Storage Headaches at Home, and Now They're Under $3 Apiece

It all started innocently last summer. I just needed a place to hang dishcloths in my new kitchen that wasn’t the oven door. But such a place did not exist – so I had to create it.

I searched for “wall hooks” and came across these well-reviewed adhesive hooks on Amazon. The double hooks are available in a variety of luxury-looking finishes and styles, had a ton of recent five-star customer ratings, and were relatively inexpensive at around $10 or $11. I chose a narrow black style to match my black kitchen counter. With Prime shipping, they arrived the next day.

And after that? Well, I’m hooked. (I’m sorry.)

The hooks come in a four-pack, and since I only had three tea towels to hang by the sink, I put an extra one above the stove for the oven mitts. To hang the adhesive hooks, all I had to do was peel off the protective film and press them against the wall for a few seconds — simple.

Mark the places where you want to place the hooks using a tape measure and a pencil before you stick them to the wall. For safe removal, a product like Goo Gone can help.

When I saw how well the sticky hooks held up, I bought another matching pack for hanging pots and pans, as the product description states that each hook can hold up to 23 pounds. I love the simple approach they provide when cooking and I really think it completes the “look” of my small kitchen.

I also bought a pack of wide silver hooks to hang four robes on the back of my bedroom door. (They’re not on Amazon as of this writing, but the same shape is available in matte black.) And they even stick to tiles: Two more hooks currently hold this plastic shower tray filled with shampoo bottles and hair masks.

Just be aware that the wall hooks won’t work if they’re wet, despite the brand’s claim that they’re waterproof. I learned this the hard way: after hanging a soaked washcloth on one in the bathroom last fall, the showerhead hit the tub. But to my surprise, the stickiness of the hook was just as strong after it dried. I re-applied it to the dry tile and re-hung the shower, and it hasn’t fallen off in seven months since.

In case you’ve lost count, I mentioned the 14 sticky hooks I’ve hung so far. On the 15th, he’s supporting a grown plant on the bathroom window, and on the 16th? I’m still deciding.
