I was so turned on shooting my film Babygirl I had to take a break so I didn’t have any more orgasms, says Nicole Kidman

NICOLE KIDMAN admitted that her new sexy role “turned her on” so much that she had to pause filming at one point.

Babygirl sees the Oscar-winning actress play a powerful married corporate boss who falls in love with a quirky young intern.

In the erotic thriller, 57-year-old Nicole strips naked and longs to be dominated in the bedroom by an almost stranger.

In the film, released here on January 10, new hire Samuel tells Nicole’s character, workaholic executive Romy, that the first rule is: “I tell you what to do and you do it.”

These orders include Romy getting down on her hands and knees to drink milk from a saucer and stuffing Samuel’s tie into her mouth.

In a revealing new interview, Nicole says performing scenes with young British actor Harris Dickinson, who plays the intern, and Antonio Banderas, as her husband Jacob, were often too much to handle.

She says: “There was an enormous amount of sharing and trust and then frustration.

“It’s like ‘Don’t touch me.’

“There were times when we were filming when I said, ‘I don’t want to have an orgasm anymore.

“Don’t come near me. I hate doing this.

“I don’t care if they never touch me again in my life!

“I got over it. It was so present to me all the time that it was almost like burning.”

It’s far more lavish than her recent starring role in the hit Netflix drama Perfect Couple, which included a scene in which husband Liev Schreiber makes love to her outside the window of their crowded family vacation home.

Mother-of-four Nicole has previously pushed the boundaries when choosing her roles, after appearing in an orgy scene in 1999’s Eyes Wide Shut with then-husband Tom Cruise and engaging in a disturbing bedroom romp with Colin Farrell in the film Killing Of A Sacred Deer in 2017.

But Babygirl is considered her most raunchy performance to date.

At a recent press conference in Los Angeles, Harris, 28, from East London, said he needed a break from the intense role.

The actor, who starred in the third Kingsman film, The King’s Man, and the acclaimed satire Triangle Of Sadness, would tell the crew and his co-stars: “Okay, everybody – go away for a minute” if “we’re not comfortable”.

Nicole’s highly charged portrayal of Romy is already the talk of the Oscars.

One moment he’s giving orders to his staff at a robotics company, and the next there’s a whale in Samuel’s hands.

The thriller was written and directed by Halina Reijn who also brought us the 2022 black comedy Bodies Bodies Bodies starring Pete Davidson and Amandla Stenberg.

Nicole wanted to work with a Dutch director for years, so she was immediately interested when Halina came to her with Babygirl.

Nicole recalls, “I read the script and I thought it was so funny.

Racy moments

“But it also turned me on. I was also kind of hypnotized.”

Halina was inspired by Sharon Stone and Michael Douglas’ 1992 thriller Basic Instinct and hearing about a woman who never experienced sexual satisfaction during her 25-year marriage.

Nicole met Harris before filming began in New York last December.

She recalls, “We talked a lot about ourselves, which is a really great way for actors to come together, because you share things.”

When filming began, the director would play most of the roles for her cast.

Nicole continues, “She would be throwing herself around the room in the rehearsal space, playing all the roles — I’d never experienced that before.”

The cast needed an intimacy coordinator for the sex scenes, which involve the couple making out during a late-night bath.

But Nicole made sure the coordinator didn’t “hold them back” by telling them what they could or couldn’t do.

He explains: “I still believe deeply in the sanctity of the set or acting space and that it should never, ever be violated.

“Because it’s ours, it’s a bubble, and there’s the world outside.”

The Hollywood beauty chose to work with female directors because that part of the industry is still dominated by men.

And Nicole doesn’t think she could pull off the lively moments as well if there was a man behind the camera giving orders, like the late Stanley Kubrick did in Eyes Wide Shut.

This was because she could talk to Halina about her “most secret desires”.

She says: “I don’t think I could do that, working with a man.

“I actually think the only way I could do that was with her because the two of us would sit and talk.

“We talked about so many things and we still do, it’s so secretive and vulnerable – but it’s safe.”

Nicole made her acting debut aged 16 in the 1983 Australian holiday drama Bush Christmas and has said in the past that she’s had “#MeToo moments — since I was a little girl”.

But she believes that thanks to her marriage to Cruise, she is protected from the sexual harassment experienced by many actresses.

The couple married in 1990 and had two children, Isabella (31) and 29-year-old Connor.

By the time Nicole and the Top Gun star divorced in 2001, she was a major powerhouse in the industry in her own right.

Five Oscar nominations, including one win for The Hours in 2003, mean directors are desperate to work with her.

Nicole’s power also means she can choose whether or not she wants to wear revealing clothing in the film.

And she can choose to play a role where she has to get down on all fours and do what the man tells her in a BDSM relationship, like with Babygirl.

Nicole says: “Since I was in the hands of Halina, I knew that she would not take advantage of me.”

“I felt a part of it.

“It’s a story I wanted to be a part of, that I wanted to tell, and every part of me was committed to it.

“We all took great care.

“We were all very, very gentle with each other and helped each other – Harris, Antonio.”

Still, the best part of shooting Babygirl for Nicole was going to a club for one scene.

She says: “My favorite day was the rave, because I got to go to the rave.

“We were playing loud music and I just went wild.

“And at that point in the film when we were doing it, it was so necessary — that feeling of total release.”

The in-demand star has plenty of projects coming up, including playing a fictional forensic pathologist in Kay Scarpetta’s TV series and Amazon Prime’s thriller Holland, Michigan.

But she has to choose her roles carefully because it means being away from husband Keith Urban and their daughters Sunday Rose, 16, and Faith, 13.

The family lives on a ranch in Memphis, Tennessee, and Nicole always has to check with her husband Keith before committing to big business projects.

Award-winning country star Keith also needs to find time to perform and record his music.

Nicole says, “Unfortunately, when you’ve got a family at home and everything, there has to be some sort of agreement that’s made where you go, ‘Now I’m going to walk into this and I’m asking for your permission to let me go.’

“And I have teenage children who understand that and a husband who is also an artist.

“So there is your release into your artistic life and then you come back to your home and your real life.

“But there’s a kind of letting go that’s needed.”
