The Scottish expert is sure to have some stories to share around the campfire.

He recently revealed on talkSPORT that he was targeted by a crazed fan who escaped from prison.

The father-of-five has been on ITV’s radar for years and was close to signing in 2019, but pulled out during final negotiations.

Explaining why he turned it down in 2022, he said: “I’m not a cockroach fan.”

But he admitted that his wife Vivian and children are behind him going to Australia.

He continued: “My wife doesn’t care if I eat spiders and voles, she just wants two trips to that Versace hotel.

“It’s the biggest thing we watch as a family, it’s brilliant entertainment. Harry (Redknapp) was fantastic last year.”

He also described the presenters Anta and Dec as “magic”.

He continued: “The part where you jump out of a helicopter or a plane at the beginning – I’d love to do that.

“But then it’s all downhill. You don’t really know until you get there, but I actually think being in a coffin with rats and snakes – from where I’m sitting now – I don’t think it would bother me that much.”

The huge Strictly Come Dancing star is set to waltz into the I’m A Celebrity jungle

A source told The Mirror: “Ally has such a huge fan base thanks to his years of commentary and opinion, plus his long involvement with A Question of Sport.

“He would be great for the jungle – as his wife and kids have always told him – so everyone is really hoping this is the year.”

The Sun has already revealed that Tulisa Contostavlos, dancer Oti Mabuse and Corrie’s Alan Halsall are in demand this year.
