However, one woman claimed she was ditching Aldi and choosing Asda instead.

It all came about after savvy shopper Nicole said she almost ‘reclaimed’ her breakfast at the ‘bassy’ prices.

Despite Which? naming Aldi the cheapest supermarket in the UK last month, Nicole opened up about her recent experience with Aldi on social media, as she shared a video of herself with the caption ‘Aldi is a cheat, pass it on’.

Then she said, “I’m sorry, right, but what really happened in there?

“I just choked at the cash register. I thought Aldi was supposed to be cheap.

“I know you’re thinking ‘here it is again’. I’m always rambling, talking shit. I know, that’s right.”

Nicole claimed that she would go to Asda for groceries, and continued: “I will stick to Asda in the future.

“I’m suffocating. I’m shocked.

“Asda could throw items through your door one by one, but at least you don’t have to pack them and pick them and whatnot.

“I thought Aldi was supposed to be cheap. I feel like throwing up my breakfast right in my lap.

“Woof. I have no words. I am horrified.”

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @nicolfergs, sparked a debate.

Some social media users said they could relate to Nicole’s sentiments.

However, many others insisted Aldi was still the cheapest by far, even in the cost of living crisis.

One person said: “IT IS cheap.”

Another added: “Asda is more expensive than Aldi – fact!”

Meanwhile, another TikToker wrote: “I have to disagree.

“Asda used to be £140 for a family of five for a week, we switched to Aldi and now it’s £90 for a family of five.

“A lot more bang for my buck,” she added of her £50 savings.

An Aldi spokesman said: “Which one? named Aldi the cheapest supermarket for November 2023, and our promise to customers is that we will always provide the lowest grocery prices in Britain.

“Value is the most important factor for most households and as Britain’s lowest price supermarket, our customers will always pay less when they shop with Aldi.”
