While Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson was focused on crossing a big milestone, her friends and family members were more concerned about her plans after high school.
At the premiere of the film on Friday Mama June: Family crisisthe Little children and tiaras alum faced pressure from her sister Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird about whether or not to attend college in Colorado.
“I chose the school in Colorado mainly because it has one of the best nursing programs ever, and I got a $21,000 scholarship,” she revealed to the cameras. Although her offer of admission seems like an “opportunity you can’t pass up”, Alana admitted she was “torn into a million pieces” about whether to stay or go after learning her sister Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell had been diagnosed with cancer in stage 4.
With her big day finally here, Alana was nowhere near making a decision about her future. Dressed in matching graduation t-shirts made and distributed by Lauryn, her mom Mama June Shannon and husband Justin Shroud prepared to go to the ceremony.

“You all know I’m not a bloody morning person, but I’m not going to miss, you know, Alana walking across the stage getting her diploma,” mom June told the cameras. “It seems like yesterday Alana was just this little girl doing plays, we were like a dynamic duo doing things together like we’ve done for years, and we always enjoyed doing it.”
Admitting that her drug addiction has caused her to miss a lot of key moments in her daughters’ lives, the reality star shared that she is determined not to miss “any major events.”
On the way there, Mom June wondered if Alana’s father, Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson, knew about her graduation and if he would be showing up.

Speaking to the cameras, the TLC host shared her plans to “give you everything as it is” and wondered if Alana’s plans to pursue higher education will actually come to fruition.
“She has nowhere to live, no [done] paperwork, she didn’t make her first payment, but today is all about Alana and tomorrow we’ll talk about her plans,” she said, before telling Justin about her excitement to scream “Do it, Smoochie!” one last time as she crossed the stage.
While Alana was getting ready for the ceremony, her boyfriend, Dralin Carswell, came to sit with her while she did her makeup. When he asked her if she was ready to graduate, she admitted, “I don’t know, I’m not as happy as I thought I would be.”
Alana opened up about the pressure she felt from Lauryn about her plans before Dralin agreed there were details you “need to know.” She then brought up his probation status and whether he would be violating the terms of his probation if he followed her to Colorado.

When Dralin claimed that he didn’t want to “hold you back”, Alana admitted that she didn’t want to “go alone” and was afraid that she would be bored in another state.
“Like, I want to go to Colorado with you, but I don’t know if I can leave the state,” Dralin said in the joint confessional, to which Alana asked, “If you can’t figure this out, what’s going to happen to us? Like we can’t be together if you’re in a whole ‘nother state. If you don’t want to come, just say so.”
Dralin later left Alana to finish her makeup and she finally went down the stairs of her sister’s house. Lauryn squealed with delight when she saw Alana decked out in a cap and gown.

“I’m very proud,” she smiled before presenting Alana with a pre-graduation gift. When Alana opened her present, she put on a disapproving look as she pulled out a T-shirt with the insignia of her prospective university.
“It’s weird,” she said, before pointing out that she hadn’t made a decision. After Lauryn questioned her simple decision, Alana left the room, adding that she didn’t have the bandwidth to answer more questions about college.
“Is everyone trying to ruin my big day because I sure feel that way,” Alana told the cameras. “Everybody has an opinion and then it turns into one big fight. So if I keep it to myself, I can skip all the fighting.”
