Her grandmother Kranti Trivedi was a Hindi writer who won many awards and honors. Ira Trivedi published her first book with Penguin at the age of 19. She also runs a non-profit organization, the Namami Yoga Foundation. Through her writing, yoga teaching and not-for-profit work, she earned a spot on the BBC’s 100 Most Influential Women in 2017.

She played squash as a teenager and competed in national-level squash competitions. She was also an avid horseback rider growing up. After completing his studies, Trivedi pursued a bachelor’s degree in economics from Wellesley College in Massachusetts from 2002 to 2006. From 2006 to 2008, she studied for an MBA at Columbia University. She then pursued a master’s degree in yoga and received her Yoga Acharya degree from Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre.
