Jayson Tatum is rumored to be dating Grammy-winning singer Ella Mai.

The duo has been linked since 2020, but they have never publicly confirmed their relationship. However, Tatum and Mai have been seen together several times in the last four years. The two were guests at Michael Rubin’s annual 4th of July party in 2022, attended the wedding of Tatum’s co-star in 2023, and celebrated Ma’s 29th birthday together in New York.

The “Boo’d Up” singer appears to be supportive of Tatum’s career and appears to have been in attendance at Boston’s TD Garden when the Boston Celtics won the NBA Finals in June 2024. That same summer, she cheered him on at the Paris 2024 Olympics. where she appeared to be holding a newborn in a video shared on X (formerly Twitter).

Tatum has become one of the NBA’s biggest stars since being drafted third overall in 2017. R&B sensation Mai is equally decorated with four Grammy nominations and one win under her belt.

He is also one of the NBA players featured in the Netflix documentary series Starting from 5which follows the 2023-2024 basketball season.

When it comes to R&B, Mai is among the top artists. The Briton first gained attention after appearing on the 11th season of The X Factor.

Mai had a successful year in 2018. She debuted at number five on the US Billboard Hot 100 with the single “Boo’d Up” from her self-titled debut album. She received two 2019 Grammy nominations, one for Best R&B Song — which she won — and one for Song of the Year. Mai is a self-proclaimed “lover,” as she explained Alright player in 2022

“I feel like people think it’s cool to be toxic and make people feel bad – I’m the other side of that. I love, I love… My favorite thing is to make a love song.”

Tatum and Mai were first linked in 2020

The pair were first linked in late 2020 when eagle-eyed viewers spotted Mai in a famous location during the singer’s Instagram livestream. The background matched Tatum’s home, which fans saw when he posted his first TikTok in March 2020.

But the seeds of a relationship may have been planted in 2019. Tatum reportedly flew to Mai’s show in Baltimore hours after the Celtics game, and Mai was spotted courtside as the Celtics played the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.

Mai avoided questions about their rumored relationship during the interview

In 2022, she visited Mai The breakfast club ahead of the release of her second album, Heart on my sleeve. While promoting the project, the conversation turned to her love of basketball and a potential relationship with Tatum.

“Rumor has it that you’re a Boston Celtics fan,” DJ Envy teased. “Oh really?” Mai replied.

“They say you’re a Boston Celtics fan and you might be dating a Boston Celtic. Is there any truth in that?” asked DJ Envy.

After questioning the source of his information, Mai politely declined to discuss her private life.

“I’m definitely a basketball fan, but you know I’m not one to talk about my relationship life.”

Nonetheless, when Mai joined Usher on stage in August 2024, the singer cheekily referenced Tatum while performing a medley of ‘Boo’d Up” and “My Boo.” In one video shared by a fan on X, Usher can be heard as he says, “I don’t want Tatum to smoke. Not in Boston.”

Despite rumors of a romantic relationship between the couple since 2020, Tatum and Mai made their first public appearance in July 2022. The alleged couple attended Rubin’s white 4th of July party in the Hamptons.

The annual event – hosted by a billionaire businessman – attracts celebrities from the worlds of sports and entertainment. The reunion video included a clip of Tatum and Mai dressed in their usual all-white outfits. Other celebrities at the exclusive reception included Kendall Jenner, Devin Booker, Odell Beckham Jr., Drake and James Harden.

Mai attended the wedding of Tatum’s former teammate

Memphis Grizzlies player Marcus Smart married his longtime girlfriend Maisa Hallum on September 16, 2023 at The Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Coast, California. Several of Smart’s former Boston Celtics teammates, including Tatum, were on hand to witness the nuptials. Mai accompanied the star athlete to the lavish ceremony. The duo wore identical green outfits, and Tatum was seen at one point with an arm draped around her shoulder as he held court with the small group.

In one sweet moment, the couple was caught dancing and singing along to Maia’s hit single “Boo’d Up” at the reception.

Mai and Tatum celebrated her 29th birthday in New York

Mai turned 29 on November 3, 1994, and to celebrate, she threw a birthday party in New York. One of the highlights of the event was an exciting game of musical chairs with her guests. The video, shared on social media by one of the partygoers, showed Tatum being eliminated during an all-male round of the game. Mai shared a video recap of her big night on Instagram.

“My birthday wish was to play musical chairs with some of my favorite people,” she wrote. “Mission completed 🤎29, good and thank you for always being surrounded by love! thank you for all your birthday wishes, we never get tired of scorpion season ♏️.”

Mai seems to have met Tatum’s son, Deuce

Tatum became a father at the age of 19, and his son, Jayson Christopher Tatum Jr. aka Deuce, has become a permanent part of NBA games.

“Every time he comes to a home game, people are excited to see him,” shared Tatum s The Boston Globe 2022. “They shout his name when he comes to away games and here at the All-Star [Weekend]. He has his own personality.”

Deuce and Mai seem to have grown close and he may be a fan of her music. The young man accompanied his father to Mai’s performance at Boston’s House of Blues as a sign of her support Heart on my sleeve tour in April 2023. A concertgoer captured the cute interaction between Mai and Deuce as she waved at him from the stage.
