Modern Family’s Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Julie Bowen Reunite to See ‘Kiddo’ Aubrey Anderson-Emmons’ School Play

Jesse Tyler Ferguson will always support his TV daughter!

The actor (48) shared on Instagram that he has a mini-Modern family reuniting with Julie Bowen and Aubrey Anderson-Emmons — who played Mitchell’s sister and daughter, respectively, on the ABC sitcom — on Wednesday. In a heartfelt post, Ferguson revealed that he and Bowen, 54, went out to see Anderson-Emmons, 16, perform in her school play.

Ferguson shared an adorable snap of the three former actors smiling and posing together backstage, while Bowen held the production’s poster. He gave a sweet nod to their characters in the hit comedy in the caption, writing: “I took my sister to see the kid in her school musical, Theory of Relativity. So proud of you @aubreyandersonemmons!”

He also encouraged others to see the play by Anderson-Emmons and her classmates. “If you’re near @viphstheatre go see this weekend. ❤️”, he added.

In the comments, fans gushed about how heartwarming it was to see the oldies back together. “Cam would be so proud 😭,” read one comment, referring to Ferguson’s character Mitchell’s husband, played by Eric Stonestreet.

“It’s great to see that even after the show is over you all still consider yourself family,” another fan replied.

Anderson-Emmons also shared a photo from their reunion on Instagram. The trio were all smiles as they posed together in the snap, which revealed that Anderson-Emmons is now as tall as Bowen. She also left a touching caption that reads: “Favorites came to see my school play<33."

It’s not the first time Ferguson has supported his TV daughter — who he co-starred with when she took on the role of Lily in Season 3 — since the series ended in 2020 after 11 seasons.

Last November, the Broadway star attended another of the actress’ school plays. He shared a photo of the two reuniting on Instagram and praised her performance Burn.

In the caption, the Emmy-nominated actor noted that it was “crazy” that Anderson-Emmons was almost the same age as the youngest of his two sons, Beckett, 3, when they first met. He also praised Anderson-Emmons’ performance, writing, “Watch it now!!! Congratulations, Aubrey! You guys were SO awesome! I love you! You make the supposed dad proud ❤️.”

The whole Modern family The cast, aside from Ty Burrell, also recently reunited in November 2023. According to Sofia Vergara, who shared photos of the on-screen family spending time together on Instagram, it was the “first” time that almost the entire ensemble was in in the same room since the end of the series finale in April 2020.

The photos shared by Vergara (51) show Anderson-Emmons, Bowen, Ferguson, Stonestreet, Nolan Gould, Sarah Hyland, Ed O’Neill, Rico Rodriguez, Ariel Winter and others — with Winter (26) holding a framed photo of Burrell. 56, in his absence.

When Ferguson made the announcement about the reunion, he called it “almost” perfect and said the showrunners also managed to make it work. “Our two dads Chris Lloyd and Steve Levitan were even there,” he said.

Much of the cast of the Emmy-winning comedy has remained close since the show ended its 11-season run, with several getting together for Hyland and Wells Adams’ 2022 wedding, with many often showing their support by attending each other’s productions, among other events.
