ITZY’s Yuna was included in BTS’s LOVE YOURSELF Highlight Reel in 2017, years before she debuted as an idol. During a V LIVE broadcast with Ryujin, she discussed behind-the-scenes anecdotes, revealing that her one-line dialogue ended up being cut from the video because she “sounded pretty weird.”
The 11-minute highlight reel served as the basis for the Bangtan Universe, featuring each member’s character journey. Yuna debuted in the story of the character Jung Kook, the youngest member of the group. The two became apparent friends in the hospital, sharing their own loneliness. ITZY’s Yuna longed for a new performance. She said she wanted to be attractive like other women, but for her job as a patient she needed to “look bad”.

ITZY’s Yuna talks about her filming experiences, regrets, and film cuts in BTS’ highlight reel.
ITZY’s Yuna appearing with BTS’s Jung Kook in LOVE YOURSELF’s Highlight Reel is a story that will probably never get old. The 2017 video quickly became the talk of the town and is now an integral part of the Bangtan Universe or BU. It features a number of current idols, especially Yuna, and provides key context for the plot. ITZY’s Yuna stops BTS’s Jung Kook as he accelerates his wheelchair dangerously in one of the scenarios. The BTS member accepts her offer of friendship as she offers him her hand.
Yuna said in the 2020 V LIVE with Ryujin that she had a line for that moment, but it was cut because it sounded weird. The session started with Ryujin reminding Yuna that she had a dialogue. ITZY’s youngest child then gasped, repeated the words, and remembered the following:
“’Be careful, it’s dangerous,’” That’s right. However, the phrase sounded like “Wait!” since I was an intern at the time. As it was my first time speaking in front of so many staff members in that situation, I sounded quite uncomfortable.”
She then described how the team asked her to just make a gesture and how the dialogue was eventually eliminated.
“They ordered me to remove “It’s dangerous” from the phrase “Wait, it’s dangerous.” Then they said, “Yuna, just raise your hand,” so my sentence was eliminated. I believe I can do better today.”
Before addressing the dialogue, ITZY’s Yuna said that she feels unhappy without cosmetics. While the other women went with makeup and lipstick, the Crazy in Love member’s role required her to look sick. Meanwhile, another member of ITZY, Ryujin, also appeared in the clip. She played J-hope and Jimin’s dance buddy. Released on August 18, 2017, LOVE YOURSELF Highlight Reel currently has 33.1 million views on YouTube. It’s one of those videos that often comes up in nostalgic discussions among ITZY and BTS fans.
