Ivan Boesky attended Cranbrook School before graduating from Mumford High School in Detroit. Boesky also attended the University of Michigan, Wayne State University and Eastern Michigan University. He later attended Michigan State University Law School to study law. Boesky’s family owned a number of taverns and delicatessens in Detroit.

Career
Ivan Boesky began his career as a professor of adaptation at the Columbia University Graduate School of Business. He was then appointed to the same position at New York University’s Graduate School of Business.
Boesky then started working in brokerage firms and moved to New York. In 1975, he founded Ivan F. Boesky & Company, his own brokerage firm. His business was a huge success thanks to partnerships and buyout investments.
He successfully advanced to the position of arbitrator. In December 1986, he was even featured on the cover of Time magazine. Boesky was known for always being on the phone. He reportedly became the highest paid trader on Wall Street in 1985. During his peak career, he invested $3 billion.
However, a group of partners sued him for falsifying documents. During the investigation, it was discovered that the bulk purchases of shares had taken place just days before the corporate takeover. That’s why he was accused.
Michael Milken initiated another case against Ivan Boeski. Boesky was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison and fined $100 million. He was released after two years, but was banned from working with securities for the rest of his life. He also paid hundreds of millions of dollars in fines as compensation for his release.
This damaged Boesky’s reputation, and there were numerous other insider scams. He then enrolled in Judaism classes at the Jewish Theological College in America. The Jewish Theological Society was fined 20 million dollars due to the scandal.
