Jacky Oh’s Partner DC Young Fly ‘Scared Myself’ When He Became ‘Numb’ After She Died (Exclusive)

DC Young Fly reflects on how losing so many people in his life has affected the way he approaches grief.

In PEOPLE’s exclusive sneak peek of Tuesday’s episode Tamron Hallthe Wild N’ Out The 31-year-old star reveals he was “scared” after reacting to the death of his partner Jacky Oh.

“I experienced such a loss,” he explains of his reaction to learning about the death of a loved one. “I’m emotionally numb to death, because I’m used to it.”

DC Young Fly says he first faced loss when he was 16 and felt a “different reaction” to each death he experienced over the years.

DC Young Fly Shares Coping With Partner Jacky Oh’s Sudden Death: ‘I Can Control My Spirit’

“I was angry with my cousin,” he begins. “When my father died, I was calm. When my best friend died, I was confused. Now, when my girlfriend died, I am shocked.”

“And who is this for?” he says of Jacky’s death. “Who should I talk to? Because it affects not only me, but also my children. They have [gone] through something I haven’t even been through.”

The television personality reveals how his partner’s death affected their children: Nova, Nala and Prince Nehemiah. He believes that his daughters received the “spirit” and as a result were able to comfort the entire family while they were going through grief.

“Nala, she’ll just come out of the blue and say, ‘What’s wrong, Dad? you are fine don’t worry Everything will be fine,’ he recalls before recounting another incident in which his eldest daughter, Nova, shared encouraging words with her aunt.

“I hear my older daughter, Nova, she [says], ‘Oh, I heard my aunt inside crying. I told her, ‘Daddy said to stop crying. We should be strong. We will be fine,’ he says. “That’s it [Holy] The spirit tells me that they are on their way. They are made for it, it will be difficult, but they are made for it.”

DC Young Fly admits he wouldn’t “wish” the pain of losing a partner on anyone. Although time has passed since Jackie’s death in May, he explains that her death still feels like a “dream” and that he feels like she could walk through the door at any moment.

The TRL The alum says he has never dealt with “past trauma” in public, so the experience of losing the mother of his children was “different”.

DC Young Fly calls Jacky Oh a ‘super awesome mother’ at Atlanta Memorial attended by Nick Cannon

Jacky died after complications from cosmetic surgery on May 31 at the age of 33. Following news of her death, a spokesperson for BET Media Group honored her life in a statement shared with PEOPLE.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Jacklyn Smith, known to the world as Jacky Oh, the talented Wild ‘N Out a family member whose influence will forever be cherished and missed,” the statement said.

“Jacky Oh was a dear friend and beloved castmate of ‘Wild ‘N Out’ for five seasons,” the spokesperson continued. “More importantly, she was an excellent mother to three beautiful children.”

At her celebration of life in Atlanta in June, DC Young Fly addressed his late partner and praised her as a loving mother to their children.

“I love you, Jack. These kids are beautiful, man,” he said through tears. “I’m talking about a super awesome mother. I want our kids to understand that you had a beautiful soul and you didn’t leave us. You’re in heaven. Your spirit is with us, you’re still here, and we have an amazing support system. We have a wonderful system of support and they came out. We love you. Everyone here, keep God first.”
