Jacque Vaughn is an American professional basketball coach born on February 11, 1975. Jacque Vaughn began his basketball career at John Muir High School in Pasadena, where he was named California’s Mr. basketball. He then played four seasons at the University of Kansas, where he was a two-time All-American and helped the Jayhawks reach the Final Four in 1993 and 1996.
After college, Vaughn was selected by the Utah Jazz with the 27th pick in the 1997 NBA draft. He played 12 seasons in the NBA, for the Jazz, Atlanta Hawks, Orlando Magic, New Jersey Nets and San Antonio Spurs. Vaughn retired in 2009, with career averages of 4.5 points, 2.2 assists and 1.6 rebounds per game.
Vaughn then began his coaching career, serving as an assistant coach for the Spurs from 2010 to 2012. He was then named the Magic’s head coach in 2012, but was fired after two and a half seasons.
