Jameel Khan is an Indian actor, known for the web series Gullak (2019), in which he played Santosh Mishra. He is also known for his roles in Hindi films including Asambhav (2004), Gangs of Wasseypur (2012), Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela (2013) and Baby (2015) .

Facts/Trivia
- After graduation, Jamil came to Mumbai to pursue his dream of becoming an actor. During the first days of his career, he lived in a one-bedroom kitchen apartment and experienced many struggles.
- He has been interested in acting since his school days and won the Jeffrey Kendall Trophy in a drama competition while being part of the school’s theater group. While in college, he was a member of the Ali Garza Brown Theater Company. He was also one of the founding members of the Aligarh Indian People’s Theater Society.
- Jameel received strong support from Naseeruddin Shah in the early stages of his career. He was a member of the play Julius Caesar by Naseeruddin Shah’s troupe Motley. He shared the stage with Shah in other plays Manto… Ismat Haazir Hain, Katha Collage, Safed Jhoot Kaali Salwar, The Caine Mutiny Court Marshal, Faust and The Chairs . In an interview, he spoke of his friendship with the Shah, saying:
Naseeruddin Shah was my lifelong mentor and friend. People can learn a lot from him. I have been dating him for 20 years. Whenever I tell him that he is my guru, he always smiles. It is an honor for me to be able to share the stage with such talent. “
- He is a very active child in school. In an interview, he said that all of his classmates were surprised to see him participating in a football game while fasting. In the interview, he further stated,
I studied at Sherwood College, Nainital for 10 years. In the past, the food on Iftaar and even Sehri was very elaborate. My non-Muslim friends envied the spread but were always in awe of how we could go without water for about 15 hours. I wonder how I can compete in football games and sports while fasting. “
- After completing his studies, he appeared for the JEE exam but failed. Later, he got admitted to Aligarh Muslim University and started studying history there. His father wanted him to pass the civil service examination, but he chose an acting career. He said in an interview that he learned Urdu during his studies in Aligarh.
- In 2019, he received a lot of recognition for his web series “Gullak”. In an interview, he stated that he was initially uninterested in the script, but later became very fond of the story. In the interview, he further stated,
You’d be surprised to know that I initially turned down the role…after reading a few pages, I thought this would be TV. The author then asked me to hear him out. He told me the whole story and I thought it was great and I shouldn’t give up. “
- After winning the award for the web drama “Gulak” in 2021, he revealed in an interview that this was his first award in 25 years of acting career. He said in the interview,
I would like to believe that the greatest sign of success is to continue to be an actor for the past 25 years and to be recognized by the audience for our work. Awards and stardom only happen to a few, but if the goal is to become an actor, then what matters to me is not the awards but the acting projects and staying relevant to the craft. “
