JMI Medical College: The Vice Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia University, Professor Najma Akhtar has announced that the central government has allowed the university to establish a medical college at Jamia Millia Islamia University. The decision on the medical faculty was announced at the university’s centenary celebration.

Professor Najma Akhtar speaking at the ceremony said that JMI had a center for dentistry, physiotherapy and first aid but lacked a medical department. She added that as Vice-Chancellor, she asked the Government of India to establish a medical college on behalf of the students and faculty on behalf of the students and has been given permission to establish a medical college on campus.

The vice-chancellor further announced that JMI will soon open an international campus in the Middle East. The deputy dean also spoke about JMI’s ranking among the top three institutions on the NIRF rankings for the second year in a row. She said that in recent years, JMI has also had positions on international rankings.

Jamia Millia Islamia also held the 100th Anniversary Induction Ceremony in Vigyan Bhawan on 23rd July 2023. Approximately 12,500 students received degrees and diplomas, including those graduating in 2019 and 2020. The induction ceremony was honored by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar, the main guest of the ceremony. Education, Skills Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also participated in the event.
