Jamie Lee Curtis Helps Cate Blanchett Avoid a Red Carpet Wardrobe Malfunction: 'I Got Her Back'

Jamie Lee Curtis helped her co-star Cate Blanchett on the red carpet after she had a hilarious wardrobe malfunction.

During a red carpet appearance on Tuesday, August 6, at an event for their video game-inspired sci-fi film BorderlandsCurtis, 65, could be seen rushing to help Blanchett, 55, as she needed help covering up, according to Party tonight.

“Nothing’s happening! You know what’s happening? I got her back,” Curtis said as she stood behind her co-star and appeared to pull up her pants, according to the paper, while Blanchett laughed.

After a minor wardrobe malfunction – in which something on her black trousers appeared to tear – Blanchett, who also wore a top by Swedish brand Hodakov made from 102 antique spoons, praised Curtis for her quick thinking and revealed how much she cares about her cast mates on film sets.

“In every movie that Jamie does, she’s the den mother,” Blanchett said ET.

The actresses have previously been candid about their friendship. Talking to The Hollywood Reporter at the same event earlier this week, Curtis revealed that they became close during the filming of the movie Borderlands.

“What I didn’t know was that we would become friends,” she told the paper of working with two-time Oscar winner Blanchett. “You hope you will, but you know, you make movies, you travel a lot, people travel all over the world.”

Last month, Curtis also wrote in a lengthy Instagram post caption that “the only reason I left my family and moved to Budapest in the middle of Covid” was when she was offered a role in Borderlands it was that she had the opportunity to work with Blanchett.

“She’s a great actress and role model, a feminist and a dedicated humanitarian, and her work with refugees is a great example to me of the marriage of art and ACTIVISM,” Curtis added of Blanchett and her humanitarian work for organizations like the United Nations Refugee Agency.

The pair have been friends since the film finished, and even celebrated their Oscar nominations together in January 2023. (Curtis’ for Everything everywhere at once, Blanchett is in favor Tar).

“I’ve been to Palm Springs and back, high and low, going to Hadley’s and having a shake on a date a million times,” she continued. “And so, while I’m sure there are many, many things Cate Blanchett can say about herself, and she may be mistaken that her top three include driving, I’m going to beg to differ…”

Borderlands comes to theaters on August 9.
