Jana Duggar's Kitchen Reno Is Finally Complete! See the 'Before & After' of Her Home with New Husband

Jana Duggar shows off her brand new kitchen!

The counting on star, 34, offered an inside look at the process of putting all the finishing touches on her kitchen, which she’s remodeling with her new husband, Stephen Wissmann, in a YouTube video shared on Sunday, Oct. 20.

She begins the update by showing shots taken before she married Wissmann last August, including a cabinet that’s just starting to take shape, and explains how their current makeshift kitchen works.

“So, since our kitchen looks like this,” she says as she pans the camera around the empty space, “this becomes our kitchen.” Land on their temporary setup, which is equipped with a stove, coffee machine and dishes.

“This is where I cook my food and finally wash all the dishes here,” he adds, going into the bathroom where he washes and dries everything. “I’m so ready to have a real working kitchen again. Hopefully we’ll have it in about a week.”

The video then cuts to her filling the large gaps above the cabinets with wood filler as she talks about the renovation process.

“They say that you do what you love and you will never work a day in your life. It’s so true. When I work on projects like this, I really feel like I’m in my element. I love the challenge of expanding my skills and figuring out how to do new things.”

She continues: “This time, I feel like all the hard work and effort is paying off because this will be the home Stephen and I will live in together after we’re married. It doesn’t get any better than that.”

Before painting the cabinets, Duggar explains how her now-husband has done commercial painting jobs in the past, so he’s adept at using a spray gun. She also notes that his parents came to help and that “having those extra hands really helped speed up the process.”

The “perfect” color they chose, Duggar previously noted, was an “affordable beige.”

After all the drawers and cabinets are painted, Duggar and her husband get to work installing them in the empty spaces. “I think we are a great team,” she captioned the clip in white text, followed by a pink heart emoji.

Countertops arrive and are secured in place, and Duggar unveils “modern and simple” gold accessories to line the drawers.

She then reflected on how tiring the home renovation process is, but how it will pay off in the long run.

“Fitting in a brand new kitchen was definitely a huge undertaking, especially since we did most of the work ourselves with the help of family and friends. But it’s so nice to see this project come together,” she says.

“I imagine it will be much more meaningful to use this space in the years to come remembering all the hard work and effort we put into making this space what it is.”

The newlyweds also added: “I’m really looking forward to decorating this and turning it into a home. I just want everything to be pleasant and attractive. I’m really looking forward to that part of the project. I can’t wait to see how it all comes together.”

Duggar, who is the oldest daughter of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s 19 children, first revealed to PEOPLE that she was moving from her native Arkansas to Wissmann’s hometown in Nebraska after they tied the knot in August.

“He has a little house that we bought and we’ve been fixing up and collecting, so it’s been fun,” she told PEOPLE at the time.

Jana has since shared an inside look at the renovation projects she worked on alongside her husband, dad and siblings, including some of the unexpected challenges they encountered in the process.
