Janelle Brown Shares Why She Still Lives in Flagstaff After Split from Kody

Janelle Brown and Kody Brown may not be together anymore, but she still loves Flagstaff!

After tying the knot in 1993, Janelle, 54, and Kody, also 54, announced they were splitting in December 2022 — but that doesn’t mean she’s parting ways with the place she called home during their relationship.

In an Instagram post dated November 9, Sister wives star shared why she didn’t pack her bags and leave Arizona.

“One of the reasons I love living in Flagstaff is because 3 of my 6 kids are here!” she began in a caption on social networks. The photo shows one of her children sitting on a chair in the living room, relaxing while playing with the family dog.

“I can get a random visit from Gabe or Garrison and Savanah is still home with me,” Janelle continued. “Garrison @robertthebrown stopped and Caroline decided it was time to lay on top of him like she does on us 😂.”

Janelle has six children with Kody — Logan, 29; Maddie, 27 years old; Hunter, 26 years old; Garrison, 25; Gabriel, 22, and Savanah, 18.

Last month, Janelle spoke exclusively to PEOPLE about her and Kody’s past relationship, adding that she “doesn’t hold a grudge” against her estranged spouse.

“I still feel some affection for him, but I don’t want to be married to him and I don’t want to be with him, but I have nothing wrong with him,” she said in an interview in early October. “I really don’t hold a grudge.”

She explained that she “wasn’t heartbroken when the marriage broke up” because she felt that way long before it got to that point. The reality TV personality noted that the former couple “have been drifting apart for so long.”

According to Janelle, despite the various challenges associated with any marriage — let alone a polyamorous one broadcast on national television — she and Kody are still able to remain cordial with each other.

“But on a very superficial level, Kody and I can go hang out and have a good time if I just separate and clean up all the other stuff. So when he called them like, ‘Yeah, hey, better than staying home and watching TV.’ ”

As for the kids, Janelle and her sister Christine Brown can only hope that their children can one day feel the same way about Kody.

“I believe that it will happen and that it will come eventually [a] a good relationship with my dad again,” Christine, 51, told PEOPLE last month about their current family dynamic. “I have to believe that.”

Janelle added that her children had previously told her they felt Kody had picked favorites over their other siblings.

“They started mentioning more and more the feeling that he had chosen sides. So they started really justifying his separation because they felt like he was choosing one family over another.”
