Jane’s Addiction Cancels Reunion Tour, Announces Hiatus After Onstage Band Fight: 'Difficult Decision'

The Jane’s Addiction reunion has ended abruptly.

After lead singer Perry Farrell punched guitarist Dave Navarro onstage during the band’s show in Boston on September 13, the group announced the rest of their tour was canceled in a social media post.

“For all fans, the band has made the difficult decision to take some time as a group,” read a statement released on September 16. “As such, they will be canceling the rest of the tour.”

The statement went on to assure fans that “refunds for canceled dates will be issued at the point of purchase.” The band’s social networks then directed those who purchased tickets through outlets such as StubHub and SeatGeek to contact the companies directly.

While Farrell wasn’t directly mentioned in the post, Navarro released a separate statement — signed by himself and bandmates Stephen Perkins and Eric Avery — giving more insight into the band’s decision to take a hiatus.

“Due to the continued pattern of behavior and mental difficulties of our singer Perry Farrell, we have come to the conclusion that we have no choice but to end the current US tour,” his Instagram post began.

Navarro, 57, continued: “Our concern for his personal health and safety, as well as our own, has left us with no alternative. We hope he finds the help he needs.”

“We deeply regret not being able to access all of our fans who have already purchased tickets,” he wrote, adding, “We see no solution that would ensure a safe stage environment or reliably allow us to deliver a great performance on a nightly basis.”

The message concluded: “Our hearts are broken. Dave, Eric and Stephen.”

Farrell also took to his Instagram Stories and shared a statement about the incident. “This weekend has been incredibly difficult and after I’ve had time and space to reflect, it’s only right that I apologize to my bandmates, especially Dave Navarro, fans, family and friends for my actions during Friday’s concert,” he wrote.

“Unfortunately, my breaking point resulted in inexcusable behavior and I take full responsibility for the way I chose to handle the situation,” Farrell continued.

Jane’s Addiction played 17 shows before calling it quits on the reunion tour. The group had 15 concerts – but all have now been cancelled.
