Jashodaben Narendrabhai Modi (age 67; as of 2019) was born in 1952 in Brahminwada, Bombay state (now Gujarat) as “Jashodaben Chimanlal Modi” (maiden name).

Jashodaben belongs to the Maud Ganchi (OBC) caste in Gujarat. Her father’s name was Chimanlal Modi (late). When she was two years old, her mother died. She has two brothers.

Jasudaben was engaged to Modi a year before their wedding. In 1963, when Jasudaben was 11 years old, she married Modi. Modi and Jasudaben started living together (Gauna) when Modi was 16, and Modi turned 18 in 1968. According to her, Modi, who wanted to travel the world, left home after three years. Married for many years. Modi was separated from Jashudaben and wandered in the Himalayas; practicing sannyasa. Jasudaben, on the other hand, returned to his father’s house and devoted himself to his studies. It was only after Modi admitted in an affidavit that Jasudaben was his wife and said that Jashodaben had filed to contest the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in the Vadodara constituency that she came into the media’s attention.

Jashodaben completed his SSC in 1974 and completed his teacher training in 1976. She then worked as a teacher in a primary school in Banaskantha district of Gujarat from 1978 to 1990. In 1991, she moved to La Josana Village and retired.
