Jason Kelce Says Travis Is a ‘Super Picky’ Eater and Their Thanksgivings ‘Always Ended in Tears’

Jason Kelce and Travis Kelce are avid Thanksgiving food lovers.

Following the Philadelphia Eagles’ win against the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday night, the Kelce brothers return with a new episode of their weekly podcast, New heights with Jason and Travis Kelce. The latest episode focuses on topical issues, like Travis’ viral tweets and their favorite Thanksgiving dishes.

In a segment where the brothers answer questions from fans, one listener asked, “Since Thanksgiving is right around the corner, what’s your favorite food? And which one do you absolutely hate?”

Jason, 36, suggests they take it a step further and rank the classic Thanksgiving side dishes.

“Travis is super picky,” the Eagles center adds, and the 34-year-old Travis agrees. But a certain palate isn’t the only thing that’s caused a stir at Thanksgiving in their family.

“Our Thanksgivings always ended in tears, with Travis at the table and his dad screaming at him,” explains Jason.

“Mom and Dad, I’m grateful,” Travis says as he fakes tears and Jason mocks their father, Ed Kelce. “Eat the food! Be grateful!” he shouts in a low voice.

After making a joke, Jason gets back to work and replies that his “must haves” are “Mom Kelce’s dinner rolls, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, corn, and some kind of meat.”

But the father of three isn’t talking about turkey. “I think turkey has to be there, but if I’m not lying, we were always a big pork chop family growing up and I think pork chops taste better than turkey, to be honest,” says Jason.

“I’m going ham. Honey baked ham,” Travis says, immediately prompting Jason to exclaim that he wishes he could change his answer to that. In true brotherly fashion, Travis jokes with Jason that it’s too late to add the “best” dish to his list. Travis supports Jason’s compliments on Donna Kelce’s mother’s rolls and says that his favorite is meat and cheese.

But like a real picky eater, the Chiefs tight end says the rest of the list is “tricky” for him. “Everything else is as it is, whatever,” he says and adds that Hawaiian rolls go well with ham in honey.

As children, the brothers shared the same least favorite Thanksgiving food: turkey. But Travis’ list of people who don’t like Turkey Day goes on.

“I’m out on stuffing, I’m out on toppings, I’m out on cranberry sauce,” says Travis.

Jason is a changed man, he explains, and says he loves turkey with cranberry sauce and wants to try roasting turkey this year.

“Have you ever fried a turkey?” Jason asks Travis, who mocks him in response.

“Look at me,” he replies. “No. I’ve never cooked a turkey in my life.”

This year won’t be the time for Travis to try, as he says he’ll be “eating at KFC because [he] won’t have anybody here” on Thursday, despite eager speculation from fans that he could be spending the holidays with Taylor Swift.

But Jason suggests that Travis travel from Kansas City to Pennsylvania to celebrate the holiday with him and his wife, Kylie, and their three children.

“If you want to travel for a while, you’re welcome at my house, Trav,” Jason offers.

“Thanks, man,” Travis happily accepts. “That’s exactly what I wanted to do this week.”

As the brothers reminisced about how often they’ve celebrated the holiday with their teammates and teammates’ families since playing football in college — both played at the University of Cincinnati — Travis also revealed that he and the Chiefs had a “friends” weekend celebration.

“We had Friends Day on Saturday,” he told Jason of his Super Bowl champion team. “It was great.”
