Jax Taylor to Exit In-Patient Mental Health Facility After 30 Days

Jax Taylor will soon be released from the hospital center he checked into in late July, PEOPLE confirms.

“Jax has spent the last 30 days in treatment and will be returning home later this week,” the rep said Valley star confirmed to PEOPLE on Monday, August 19. TMZ first broke the news.

The statement continued: “This has been an emotional month for him and he is most looking forward to spending time with his son.” The reality TV star shares son Cruz Michael Cauchi, 3, with his estranged wife Brittany Cartwright.

On Tuesday, July 30, news broke that Taylor, 45, had entered a mental health facility.

Along with returning home, Taylor will also return to filming Valleywhich began production on its second season earlier this summer, according to TMZ. The publisher also said that Taylor intends to talk about his stay in the hospital when he is comfortable and when the audience can expect an emotional new season.

A representative for Bravo did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for more information about Taylor’s return to filming.

“Jax has always been open about his mental health struggles, especially over the past few months on his podcast. He made the decision to seek inpatient treatment,” a rep for Vanderpump Rules alum told PEOPLE when he first entered treatment a few weeks ago.

“This is a particularly sensitive time for him and his family. They ask for privacy and respect until he is ready to speak more on this topic,” the statement concluded. TMZ first reported the news on July 30.

Taylor’s treatment comes amid his split from estranged wife Cartwright. The former couple announced their separation in February after four years of marriage.

When Cartwright broke the news about her and Taylor’s joint podcast When reality hits with Jax and Brittanyshe explained that she “made the decision to move to another home in order to take up some space for work [her] mental health.”

The former couple first met almost ten years ago, in 2015. Since then, their relationship has been documented on Vanderpump Rulestheir spinoff Jax & Brittany take Kentucky and the latest Valley. They got married on June 29, 2019. Almost two years later, on April 12, 2021, they had a son, Cruz Michael Cauchi.

The news of their separation echoed in advance Valleypremiere earlier in February, where Cartwright revealed to PEOPLE that she’s felt “a little relieved” since splitting from Taylor, adding that she “needs this space.”

Taylor explained to PEOPLE that the couple thought this was “best for [their] family” because they “have been going through some things for a while”.
