Jay Leno and Drew Barrymore go back in time!
On Thursday, September 12, former Tonight’s show host surprised Barrymore and co-host Ross Mathews when he revealed he met the actress when she was a child during the segment The Drew Barrymore Show.
“I met Drew when she was 3 years old. I was dating her aunt. She was asked to babysit, and I picked you up and threw you on my knee,” Leno recalled as the trio toured the CBS parking lot. “It was just really funny.”

Shocked by the comedian’s revelation, Barrymore gave Mathews an excited look before replying: “How we never talked about that? Do you remember anything about me?”
“Well, you were a baby! I was the babysitter’s boyfriend,” Leno recounted. “He would come in and sit down and make the kid laugh.”
While it is Charlie’s Angels the actress didn’t really remember Leno’s babysitting, she recalled her first appearance on Tonight’s show.

“I believe I did it for the first time Tonight’s show he was with Jay when [Johnny] Carson was still the host and Jay was still the guest host,” she said before turning to Matthews, who got his “big break” as an intern on the long-running talk show.
“But I also know what it’s like for a gentleman to take a chance on you and change life as you know it,” she told Matthews. “For me it was Steven Spielberg, and for you it was Jay Leno. It is the deepest and most meaningful, most profound thing.”
“Well, I’m very proud of both of you,” Leno said.

Mathews rose to fame when he started as an intern for Tonight’s show in 2001. He became a correspondent and was nicknamed “Ross the Intern” on the show.
“I still think of you as a kid, but you’re like an adult now,” Leno told Mathews in the segment. “We enjoyed being with you. I always liked you. because you were kind.”
