Jenna Dewan got quite a workout trying to capture the perfect family Christmas photo.
The actress, 43, shared a hilarious video on Instagram on Saturday, taking fans behind the scenes of the shoot — which didn’t quite go according to plan.
In the video, Dewan, her fiance Steve Kazee, her children Everly (10) and Callum (3) and the family’s four dogs are adorable dressed in the same red and white plaid pajamas. A professional photographer was there to take holiday photos of the group.
The pooches – Wylie, Cosmo, Stella and Meeka – were the first to pose for a group photo and were surprisingly cooperative, thanks to some tempting treats dangled by Dewan and Kazee, 48.
However, when it came time for the family shoot on the couch next to the Christmas tree, Dewan faced a bit of a dilemma. Shown recordings Novice the star tries to hold and argue with Callum, who cried and appeared over everything.
As Dewan, Kazee and Everly made funny faces for the camera, Callum cried. In another cut, the family smiled as they posed and appeared to be almost got a perfect shot.
But then Callum quickly slipped out of the frame, leaving his family to carry on without him. The dogs also ran away in the middle of the hectic filming and had to be chased away.
“We all had a good time 😅,” Dewan joked in her caption, mocking the exhausting effort of trying to get everyone in sync for the photo.

This is not the first time that Dewan has pulled back the curtain on the reality of photos with children. When it was time for Everly and Callum to go back to school in the fall, she posted photos of her kids posing on the porch before heading off to their first day.
“Instagram vs reality, back to school edition,” she wrote. “If my kids teachers see this, THANK YOU.”

The first photo shows Everly and Dewan smiling with their arms wrapped around each other, while the second captures Callum smiling as he stands next to a bright yellow school bus-inspired backpack. However, the happy photos did not capture how the children really felt.
Dewan’s carousel also included a clip of Everly dramatically dragging her feet as she walks through their home and into a wall – seemingly unenthusiastic about the day ahead.
As for Callum, the latest photo showed him in the same spot he posed for his smiling school photo, only this time he was kneeling down while crying.
