Jennifer Aniston wants fans to know the truth about Matthew Perry’s final days.
In a new interview with DiversityAniston reflected on her loss Friends costar and emphasized that he “wasn’t fighting” before his untimely death at the age of 54 on October 28.
When asked what she would like the world to remember Perry for, Aniston, 54, said: “The way he said he’d like to be remembered. He was happy. He was healthy. He quit smoking. shape. He was happy — that is all I know.”
“I was literally texting him that morning, funny Matty,” she continued. “He wasn’t in pain. He wasn’t struggling. He was happy.”

Aniston’s Morning show actress Reese Witherspoon was by her side during the interview and added, “It’s important that people know that.”
Aniston added: “He did. I want people to know that he was really healthy and on the mend. He was on the hunt. He worked so hard. He really had a tough job. I miss him so much. We all miss him. Boy, we miss him so much laughed.”

Speaking about the countless tributes pouring in for Perry after his death, Aniston called the support from the Hollywood community “so beautiful.”
“I hope he can know he was loved in a way he never thought he was,” she said.

Witherspoon, 47, remarked Friends cast: “You’ve all been so close. It’s amazing what’s come out of those friendships, and how you’ve always looked out for each other for years and years. It’s really beautiful and sets the standard for our business, also, with the way you respect each other .”
“I feel lucky to have been on that show and to have walked into Alice in Wonderland, watching the most popular cast do the whole thing. I remember going home and saying, oh, they’re in a different league,” she recalled. . “They’re on another planet at a level of comedy that I’ve never seen in my entire life, flipping on a dime and working off of each other’s energy and it was extraordinary.”
On a final note, Aniston said, “I also have to say that I think Matthew Perry’s dialect, his way of speaking, created a whole different world. We went with him, in a way. It just added something to our joy.”

Matthew Perry Friends Costars Speak Out After His Death: ‘We Are All So Completely Devastated’ (Exclusive)
Perry, who had struggled with addiction throughout his life, was found dead in his Los Angeles home in late October. Law enforcement sources told TMZ that no drugs were found at the scene, and there were no signs of foul play.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed to PEOPLE that an autopsy has been completed and the results are pending a toxicology report. However, the online record has the status of the actor’s cause of death currently listed as “delayed” as “further investigation is pending.”
After his death, his loved ones throughout the Hollywood community – including all five of his Friends costars — honored him with touching tributes on social media. Perry’s family also honored his legacy by setting up a foundation in his name to support those suffering from substance abuse – something the late actor had planned to do before his death.

When Aniston broke her silence about losing Perry on Nov. 15, she shared one of her last text messages from the actor and recalled how he made everyone “laugh so hard.”
“Oh man, this cut me deep… Saying goodbye to our Matty was a crazy wave of emotions like I’ve never experienced before,” Aniston wrote in her Instagram tribute alongside a photo of herself and Perry from the 2004 sitcom The Final Episode . We all experience loss at some point in our lives. Loss of life or loss of love. Being able to actually SIT in this grief allows you to feel moments of joy and gratitude that you loved someone so deeply. And we loved them deeply. They were such a part of our DNA.”
Morning show the actress continued: “There were always six of us. This was a chosen family that forever changed the direction of who we were and what our path would be. Matty KNEW he loved to make people laugh. As he said himself, if he hadn’t heard ‘ laugh’, he thought he was going to die. His life literally depended on it. And boy, did he manage to do just that. He made us all laugh. And hard.”
She said she looked back on their many text conversations, “Laughing and crying and laughing again. I will cherish them forever and ever.”

Two weeks later, Aniston took to social media again and encouraged her followers to donate to the Matthew Perry Foundation on Giving Tuesday.
“For #GivingTuesday, join me and Matty’s family in supporting his foundation – which works to help those suffering from addiction 🤍,” Aniston wrote in a post on her Instagram Story in honor of the global day of generosity. “I would be grateful for your love 🥰”
