Jennifer Garner Says She Never Ate Processed Food Growing: 'We Had Only What' My Mom 'Could Make'

Jennifer Garner had a childhood without fast food.

Actress Molly Sims shared how she feeds her children compared to how she ate as a child.

There are PEOPLE an early look at November 12th episode of The Sims Podcast Lipstick on the rimwho recently joined Sony Music Entertainment’s Global Podcast Division.

In the episode, Deadpool vs. Wolverine star, 52, opened up to the modeling host, 51, about her to-go meals and banning her three children.

While Garner often cooks ground turkey burritos and buttered noodles, she said she avoids keeping processed foods in her pantry out of habit from her youth.

“We didn’t have processed food at all. Not because my mom thought so. It was expensive. So we only had what she could make,” 13 Continues 30 the alum explained, adding that “[tries] not to freak out too much about it,” but she doesn’t buy it for her family. “I’m not one to have processed food around.”

Giving children natural food is important to Garner even outside of her household, she explained to Sims.

When talking about her Once Upon a Farm organic food line, Garner said, “Kids deserve better. It really matters what you put in a child’s body.”

Some of the products used in the baby food line come from Garner’s family farm in Locust Grove, Oklahoma, where her mother, Patricia Ann Garner, grew up.

She said her mom was happy to see her childhood home being used: “Of everything I’ve ever done, this means the most to my mom — to have her farm come back to life and grow things for babies. It’s just the coolest,” Garner told PEOPLE in 2020.

On Sunday, Nov. 10, Garner posted a sweet photo on Instagram of herself holding hands with mom and sister Melissa Lynn Garner while out for a walk in her home state of West Virginia. The touching photo comes seven months after the death of Jennifer’s father William John Garner.

Garner announced her father’s death on Instagram on April 1. She then shared that he “passed away peacefully” at the age of 85 surrounded by her family.

“We were with him, singing Amazing Grace as he left us…” Garner wrote at the time. “While there is no tragedy in the death of an 85-year-old man who lived a healthy, wonderful life, I know that grief is inevitable, waiting around unexpected corners,” adding that her family is “grateful for Dad’s gentle demeanor and quiet strength.”
