Jennifer Lawrence Is Dressing for Fall in Corduroy Pants and Suede Slip-Ons That Look Like These Styles from $30

Things are looking up for us fall fashionistas – Jennifer Lawrence says, er, dresses, well.

On Saturday 10.8. The Hunger Games the star, 33, came out in a red dress that spared me some summer fabrics and details that I’ve grown tired of in the meantime. On top, she wore a button-down shirt, which Nicole Kidman and Meghan Markle have been loving lately, and she combined it with velvet pants.

She also ditched her fishnet ballet flats for a closed-toe pair of brushed leather loafers that weren’t quite as fur-lined as Uggs, but were definitely a step in the right direction for fall footwear.

Not that I hate it summer dresses or tank tops, just me always hungry to be wrapped up in layers like menswear-inspired blazers, fancy balloons and studs like this one. They’re cool enough to wear in the heat – I recently traveled in one – but I don’t sweat too much in them when I’m wearing a leather jacket or a big puffer.

Also, you know when you take off your warm jacket after you’ve been out in the cold to cool off a bit? Yeah, I hate that feeling. The snapping, however, is a nice little blanket of protection. This cherry colored shirt is a fun alternative to the usual white or blue. Plus, depending on how things are going, red might even be the new color of the season.

Velvet pants always fall off my fall outfit list, but why? They help with warmth and have a soft texture that’s different from denim or plain. Besides, they are not in a completely different price range. This larger pair, for example, is $41, while these running pants are $30. TL;DR: Whether they’re wide leg, flowy, or more casual, they’re all under $45. Also, Jennifer Garner is also a fan of velvet.

Playing with one autumnal texture wasn’t enough for J.Law, so it won’t be enough for me either. I love that these brushed leather clogs look a little heavier than hers, and many customers have even compared them to my yet-to-be-acquired Birkenstocks: “I practically live in my Birkenstock sandals, but I wasn’t sure how I would feel about clogs and wanted to try them before buying the real version,” said one customer. “At this point I’m not sure I will because they’re perfect.”
