Jennifer Lopez is getting ready for her first movie musical!
According to numerous media, the actress and singer should star in the upcoming version of the movie musical Kiss of the spider woman.
Diversity he confirmed the casting Fraudsters actress in a new film to be directed by Bill Condon — whose credits include Dream girls and Chicago — by source close to production.
The film is an adaptation of the 1993 Broadway musical by John Kander, Fred Ebb and Terrence McNally, which was based on the 1976 novel by Manuel Puig. The story was previously adapted into a 1985 film starring William Hurt and Raul Julia.

The publisher reported that Lopez will play Aurora, a fantasy woman created by Luis Molina, a gay hairdresser imprisoned in Argentina around 1981 along with Valentino Arregui Paz, a Marxist. As a form of escape from reality during her sentence, Molina dreams of Aurora in classic films, including her role as Spider-Woman.

Broadway musical adaptation Kiss of the Spider Woman — which starred Chita Rivera in the title role—earned seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical by Entertainment Weekly. Rivera was later succeeded by singer and actress Vanessa Williams in the Broadway performance.

Diversity further reported that film music production Kiss of the spider woman is currently seeking an unknown to play Molina, adding that the role — according to the cast — “presents itself as an openly queer and feminine gay man, but can be on the non-binary/trans femme spectrum.” Filming, according to the media, should take place in New Jersey from April 2024.
Lopez’s role in this new version Kiss of the spider woman will mark her debut in a film musical, EW added.

A busy Lopez, 54, is also set to release her upcoming album This is me… now, continuation of hers from 2002 This is me… ThenFebruary 16. The new record “chronicles the emotional, spiritual and psychological journey she has undertaken over the past two decades,” according to a press release.
In the teaser for This is me… now featured last month, Lopez is seen poring over an old letter before tossing it into the fireplace. The star narrates the clip, which includes the words: “When I was a little girl, when someone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, my answer was always… in love.” The release of the album follows her marriage to Ben Affleck in July 2022, to whom the previous album was dedicated.
