Jennifer Lopez is still focused on work.
The actress/producer, 54, was in Mexico City on Wednesday, May 22 to promote her new Netflix movie Satin when a journalist asked her a personal question instead of a professional one.
“Is your divorce with Ben Affleck real? These rumors?” asked an unknown journalist in a room full of astonished journalists. “What is the truth? Para le press le Mexicana [for the Mexican press]what is the truth about the situation?”
Lopez’s costar, Simu Liu, immediately interjected. “Okay, we’re not going to do that,” Liu said. “Thank you guys so much, we really appreciate it. Thank you.”
Lopez then leaned over and looked straight at the reporter, replying: “You know better than that.”
“Come on, don’t come in with that energy, please,” added Liu.
“If I could just end on one thing,” Liu continued. “Jen is the producer of this movie and the reason why I’m here and why I’m Sterling [K. Brown] was in this wonderful movie because Jen cares. And Jen cares about things like representation and diversity, and she’s the boss.”
Lopez ended the press conference by telling reporters in Spanish, “Thank you. Nobody asked me anything in Spanish, but okay.” She blew a kiss and smiled as the audience laughed.

The actress has been busy promoting the sci-fi film, which airs amid a challenging time in her marriage to Ben Affleck.
Their marriage is “not in the best place right now,” a source close to Lopez told PEOPLE earlier this week. According to other sources, the couple has recently been living separately amid a marital dispute.

Affleck was not at the premiere of the film in Los Angeles Satin on Monday nor the premiere in Mexico City on Tuesday.
Instead, the actor was spotted dining at a popular Italian restaurant in Santa Monica while Lopez was out of the country promoting the film. They were both spotted wearing their wedding rings this week.

Lopez and Affleck met on set Gigli back in 2001 and got engaged but split in 2004. Almost two decades later, they rekindled their romance and tied the knot in a small Vegas wedding in 2022.
