JEREMY Clarkson has revealed he underwent life-saving heart surgery after a “sudden deterioration” in his health.

The Sun columnist said he was alerted to changes in his health while on holiday after struggling to walk up stairs after “attempting” to swim.

Remembering Alex Salmond’s recent fatal heart attack, Jeremy immediately sought medical advice on his return to the UK.

He revealed in his Sunday Times column that an ambulance took him to Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital where tests ruled out a heart attack.

However, further examinations revealed that one artery was completely blocked and the other almost blocked, putting him in serious danger.

The Who Wants To Be A Millionaire host said he was then taken into surgery for emergency treatment.

A stent is inserted into the blocked artery to keep it open and restore blood flow to the heart.

He wrote: “It wasn’t particularly painful. Just weird,” and said he then thought, “Crikey, that was close.”

The TV star previously said she was worried about her health and admitted: “I don’t have much time left.”

He said in an interview with The Guardian in April: “I don’t have long. I probably only have about, maybe 70,000 hours left?”

He also shared his fears of developing dementia, telling The Times that his “memory is poor” and that his hearing loss “doubled his chances” of developing the disease.

He said he had “very nice” hearing aids fitted last year.

But the TV legend has shown no signs of slowing down.

The owner of Diddly Squat Farm publishes a new book about farm life.

The fourth series of Clarkson’s Farm has also officially started production, with his co-star Lisa Hogan giving fans a behind-the-scenes look.

Lisa, who joins Jeremy on the show, shared a sneak peek of the camera crew on set at their Chipping Norton farm.

He also further expanded his business by buying a pub selling beer made from produce from his country.

The Farmer’s Dog opened in the Cotswolds this September, but Jeremy has made no secret of his view of the project as a “nightmare”.

He completely renovated the previously non-existent building, spending over a million pounds to make it perfect – he even hung a tractor from the ceiling.

The TV presenter has tried to keep his prices affordable, with prices averaging £5.50 for a pint, £9 for small plates and up to £19 for a full meal.
