Jeremy Roger Hansen was born on Tuesday, January 27, 1976 in London, Ontario (age 47; as of 2023). His zodiac sign is Aquarius. He grew up near a farm near Elsa Craig in Middlesex County. Hanson began his aviation career while serving with 614 Royal Canadian Air Force Cadet Squadron in London, Ontario; he joined the Air Cadet Squadron at the age of 12. Four years later, in 1992, he passed the Air Cadet Glider Program in Trenton, Ontario, and earned his Air Cadet Glider Pilot wings. In 1993, he earned his private pilot’s license and wings in Cornwall, Ontario. In an interview, he revealed that the Air Cadet training he received as part of the program helped him during his officer training in the Canadian Armed Forces.

He was commissioned into the Royal Canadian Air Force at the age of 18 and completed CF-18 fighter pilot training in 2003 with the 410 Tactical Fighter Combat Training Squadron in Cold Lake, Alberta. Subsequently, he completed two training flights with the 441st Tactical Fighter Squadron and the 409th Tactical Fighter Squadron as a CF-18 fighter pilot and was promoted to the rank of captain; he also served as the combat operations officer of the 4th Wing of Cold Lake, which Commanded by the 1st Canadian Air Division. He was a captain in the Royal Canadian Air Force when he was drafted into the Canadian Space Agency (CSA), later rising to the rank of colonel.

In March 2008, Jeremy Hansen applied to participate in the Canadian Space Agency’s (CSA) 2009 astronaut recruitment event; it was reported that CSA received more than 5,300 applications, and after preliminary screening, 79 people were selected to participate for a one-year period training process.
