Jeremy Renner Reveals the ‘Superpower’ He’s Gained Nine Months After Snowplow Accident: ‘No Fat in My Life Anymore’

Jeremy Renner opens up about how his near-fatal snowmobile accident changed him.

Renner, 52, recently told CNN that he feels “very blessed and very fortunate to be upright and walking around and living life” more than nine months after the incident.

“I am very, very clear. My life is really lean, if that makes sense,” he said. “There’s no more fat in my life. I do not have time for that. So there’s something really nice about having that superpower.”

Amidst Renner’s ongoing recovery, he began promoting the Sweet Grass Vodka brand of spirits. He also publishes new music under the title Love and titanium, inspired by “the various milestones in my recovery journey since January 1st of this year,” as he wrote on Instagram last Thursday. “I was really clear about how I wanted to spend my time and who I wanted to spend my time with,” Renner told CNN. “This seems like a family to me, like a lifestyle that we talk about all the time. And then we have the spirit itself, it’s much more of a shared experience. And for me, that’s where I want to spend my time.”

Renner told CNN that he feels he’s kept “a lot of the gifts that made me [the Jan. 1 accident],” in which he broke more than 30 bones and underwent multiple surgeries after being run over by a plow while helping his nephew pull a stuck vehicle out of the snow on New Year’s Day on his property in Reno, Nevada.

“When you’re tested physically, emotionally, spiritually, in every way, and then you go through that, it’s something that’s hard to explain,” he said. “Persistence. Strength. It’s all a mental game. I’ve put it in my back pocket now. I know how to deal with pain. It’s all in the mind. It’s all in the mind. If you can sift through the fog of it all, I’m very blessed.”

Renner was seen in public without the use of a cane for the first time since the accident at Kate Beckinsale’s birthday party in July. He was also seen reuniting with some of his Marvel Cinematic Universe co-stars in Boston for Chris Evans and Alba Baptista’s wedding in September.

The actor appeared in the last season of his series Paramount+ The mayor of Kingstown earlier this year, but otherwise hasn’t acted since reprising his Marvel role as Hawkeye for the Disney+ miniseries of the same name in 2021. It remains unclear if Renner will return to the role for future Marvel projects.
