The fun never stops The Golden Bachelor.
Host Jesse Palmer revealed the ladies competing for Gerry Turner’s heart showed no signs of needing a break during one night of the ABC dating show.
“The night doesn’t end at 10 p.m. like I thought it might — just because people were a little older, maybe they wouldn’t be able to stay up as long,” Palmer told E! News. “People know that the first night in the mansion is the longest night on television — period. I mean, usually it’s from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m., and it’s an all-night sleepover and they play.”

He continued: “And I’ll say this – because I’ve been at this for a few years now – a lot of these young kids, they talk a lot about games, but you inevitably see them on the couch passed out taking a little nap here and there.”
Palmer said that “there was no napping The Golden Bachelor,” adding, “They partied hard and went from sunset to sunrise.”
The TV personality also praised the 22 ladies — including Matt James’ mom Patty — who took part in the show, saying: “One of the things I’ve really enjoyed about this group of women? They have so much more confidence when they get out of the limo on the first night – unlike anything I’ve ever seen.
“It’s always the arrival of the limousine, the nerves coming out, the cameras, the fairy, all that. Because they lived the life [and] they had experience, they are rock stars — and that throughout this season,” he said. “On group dates, on one-on-one dates, on trips, they just shine.”

The ladies weren’t the only ones who made an impression on Palmer. Former NFL player — who led Bachelorfifth season before she becomes the host in September 2021 — recalled Turner, 72, giving memorable speeches as she handed out roses.
“You know at the top of the rose ceremony when the bachelor or bachelorettes come into the rose room and address the ladies or gentlemen?” Palmer said. “Nobody’s done it better than Gerry. He’s the best I’ve ever seen at it. He’s a lot better than I was when I was a bachelor. It’s not even close.”
He called the new Golden Bachelor “really sweet, just humble, grateful, grateful for the opportunity, [with] an amazing family.”
Turner is looking for love again after the death of his wife and high school sweetheart Toni.

“For a while it was like I had a hard time figuring out if she was going to be okay [with this]”, Turner said further Good morning America in July. “But we always told each other when one of us leaves, we want the other to be happy. She’s cheering upstairs [for me]. She says, ‘Yes, Gerry. Do it.'”
Turner’s daughters with Toni, Angie and Jenny, signed him up for the show. The widower knows he won’t find another love like the one he had with Toni, but he doesn’t expect to find it.
“I don’t think that’s what I’m looking for,” he told Palmer during Bachelor the season of the 20s Men say everything special. “What I’m looking for at age 70 is different than what I’m looking for when I was in high school and college.”
In a preview for the upcoming season, Turner did joke about who he hopes to meet on the show. “The best case scenario is that I find out that Helen Mirren is on the market and she’s very happy to be on The Golden Bachelorr,” Turner said.
