Jim Sarbh was born on August 27, 1987 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. He received widespread appreciation from the audience for his performance in the Sonam Kapoor-starrer film Neerja (2016). He won several awards for this film such as International Indian Film Academy Award for Best Actor in a Villain, Screen Award for Best Male Debut, Stardust Award for Best Actor in a Villain, Zee Cine Award for Best Actor in a Villain, etc. Best New Male. Jim was educated at the Bombay American School in Mumbai and received a degree in psychology from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. After completing his studies, he joined Alliance Theater, an Atlanta theater company, where he served as a literary intern for nearly a year and performed on multiple stages in “Ice Glen,” “The Breakup,” “The Show!” ” and “Tennis in Nablus” and other plays. Winner of the Atlanta Metropolitan Theater Award for Principal Supporting Actor. In 2012, he returned to Mumbai and started working as a theater artist. He has written many plays such as Death of a Salesman, Ok Tata Bye Bye, Indian Song, Limbo, Cock, The Glass Menagerie, Noises Off, Eat! , “Bull” and so on.
In 2016, he made his debut in Bollywood with the movie “Ajeeb Aashiq”. The film was screened at the Rotterdam International Film Festival on February 2, 2016. In the same year, he acted in three more feature films “Neerja”, “Yashodhara” and “3 ½ Takes”. He has also appeared in short films like Akshat Verma’s Mama’s Boy and Guri Dutt’s Like Summer.
