Jimmy Buffett Worked on New Music Video Promoting Pet Adoption Before His Death

Jimmy Buffett’s love for animals lives on.

The “Margaritaville” singer, who died Sept. 1 at age 76, collaborated with the ASPCA to make a special music video promoting pet adoption, called “Like My Dog.” Video — which he presented for the first time Today and highlights the special bonds people share with their animals — featuring never-before-seen footage of Buffett playing and enjoying the good life with his own dogs.

The clip opens with the musician wrapped up in a coat, scarf and hat for an outing with his dogs. In one hand she holds a tennis ball that one of the puppies excitedly tries to grab.

“Hi, this is Jim and Jim’s dogs,” Buffett says. “We’re back in business here. If you’ve got dogs out there, I’m your man.”

He jokingly adds, “Just remember, we don’t deal with cats, we don’t deal with frogs. Here at Jim, we only deal with dogs.”

The video cuts to one of his puppies sitting in a music studio, moving the controls on a mixing console with his paws. As the first notes of “Like My Dog” begin to play, a montage of clips shows Buffett’s canine friends joining him on sunny boat rides, fishing and more. Other pet owners are also shown enjoying everyday moments with their animals.
