Jimmy Kimmel Cancels Live Show with Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Colbert After Positive COVID Test

“Strike Force Three” was scheduled to take place Saturday in Las Vegas with a live taping of their podcast “Strike Force Five,” which also features Seth Meyers and John Oliver

The late night trio will not be taking the stage together in Las Vegas this weekend.

Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Colbert’s live performance of “Strike Force Three” has been canceled due to Kimmel’s positive test for COVID. He announced the news on X (formerly Twitter), saying: “Well, Las Vegas, I’ve come down with Covid, and unfortunately, we have to cancel this weekend’s Strike Force Three show. I could never live with myself if I made my hometown friends sick.”

Kimmel, 55, confirmed that ticket holders will be refunded. He also pointed out that the date will be moved “if possible”.

The three of them were supposed to record their episode live Strike Group Five podcast at Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas on Saturday. The limited series podcast usually features both Seth Meyers and John Oliver, hence the “five”. It’s a constant outlet for late-night talent who discuss the ongoing strikes in Hollywood and engage fans in intimate conversations about what’s happening off-screen.

As the show was announced, both Oliver, 46, and Meyers, 49, joked about their inability to attend the show live. “I am not allowed to return to Vegas until I am cleared of all charges,” Oliver said, according to a press release The Hollywood Reporter. Meyers, however, joked that he would be down the street, but not at the event. “I WILL be in Vegas, but I won’t be able to attend because I have to play the slots,” he said.

The podcast was created to finance their employees, while the writer’s strike prevented many shows from airing. Spotify’s description of the podcast states that all proceeds will go to “staff who are out of work from the hosts’ shows.” The same was expected for the live performance, with all ticket proceeds going to the staff.

This isn’t the first time Kimmel has lost his job after testing positive for COVID. In 2022, he chose John Mulaney and Andy Samberg as hosts Jimmy Kimmel Live! when he tested positive for the disease twice in the same month.
